This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

İf we need the summarized the movie with one word; That would be the 'underrated'. I know we can't say ''this movie for everybody'' Because Somewhere one of the slow movies. Sometimes or some moments it can be hard to watch. But this doesn't mean we are watching a bad film. On contrary this the perfect way for this subject.I was surprised by the reviews, of course I was waiting bad comments but this too much for my opinion. Specially I liked the scenes Johny Marco and his daughter, because it was so normal, natural. The relationship with his daughter was so important. When his daughter is gone he tried the go back to his previous routine, his life at the famous motel. But he failed. Because he unlocked the door of something. Maybe there's a chance for him. And I want the say Elle Fanning was perfect. After the Lost in Translation this is the best movie of Sofia Coppola. Give it a chance guys.

This is a very odd movie: we as the audience have to do all the work!Is there a plot? No. You have to imagine it. Is there a script? No: you have to imagine that, too.I spent the entire movie waiting for something to happen. Nothing ever did!OK, it was a very pleasant wait: the scenery is very attractive, and most of it is scantily-clad. So if you like looking at women in a state of undress (I do!) then you will at least have something to do while you imagine a story to go with the visuals. There is one stand-out: the sound. Many of the scenes are shot with ambient sound, and it is beautifully captured. As a former sound man myself, I know how hard this would have been to do.Everything else: that's up to your imagination!

"Somewhere" is, like any other Sofia Coppola's movie, a very delicate exhibition. The plot is not extraordinary, given what matters, what the director really wants to appraise is the atmosphere. An atmosphere full of little details that contribute to create an halo of dream, perhaps even of magic. Which is what most people think to be the life of an actor: magical. On the contrary, Johnny's life is gray, monotonous, full of problems: in a word, ordinary. So the contrast between the dreamlike and the gray atmosphere mirrors the crack between what Johnny's life should be and what it actually is. This never-ending loop is then broken by Cleo, Johnny's daughter, who initially seems to brighten her daddy's life. They talk, they play, they listen to good music. But then life knocks on the door and sadness kicks back in. So what to do at this point? With an extremely magnificent ending, Johnny suggests just to go S O M E W H E R E.

There'd been a lot of poor reviews for this movie on Rotten Tomatoes. I don't consider this a movie, it's a film, and quite frankly one of the truest depiction of what it really is like, if you stay in the industry in this town too long. This will speak to people who've had a small sense of success within celebrity and working in Hollywood (I would say, after at least a decade). I think the ones who don't "get it" are on the outside looking in. Asking themselves why they should care about some rich, bored famous actor. This may be news to you, but they ask themselves that more than you do. In fact, a lot has to do with "what now?" You wonder why Philip Seymour Hoffman went off the wagon. You wonder how fame can corrupt. It's because normalcy isn't the same for celebrity. Normalcy is upping the anty sometimes. He finds NO joy in owning a Ferrari. None in watching hot twins gyrate on a pole for him. ZERO in his neighbors who happen to be models. And a dullness in a trip to Rome. Witness the bland, confused look when he accepts an award, he doesn't even know what it's for.Yes, do not feel sorry for this. But, it's an amazing achievement when you can hold a mirror to this pathos and still allow viewers to paint whatever picture you have of him. That trip out to the rolling hills. I've been there. I take frequent trips to Newhall. To get out of this town. To realize anonymity and solitude is what gives you peace within yourself. The trappings don't mean much if you don't care what your purpose in life is.
