At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

This film tells the story of two young lovers, who have been in a dedicated relationship for six years. They are still very in love, needing each other constantly, until cracks start to appear in their relationship. The film is about this couple having been in relationship for six years, not about the entire six years. The plot is simple and easy to understand, yet what I don't understand is how they managed the previous six years. It appears that one of them is not mature enough to deal with a relationship, and gets abusive and violent when something doesn't go as planned. I would have walked straight out the relationship of that happened to me! Overall, I think "6 Years" is quite an honest and believable portrayal of a relationship. It doesn't sugar coat the relationship.

A great story about two imperfect people in a small town who deal with their relationship. I have no clue why this movie received, 'mixed reviews.' It displays a true and raw relationship.Script is terrific and the acting by the male lead is commendable. The actress seems a little unsure in some scenes and keeps touching her hair which is really really distracting. Her friends are also really irritating and always drunk. The story just seems so real and honest. A real indie feel to it.The character of Daniel develops really well. Really thankful I found such a great movie through Netflix. WORTH THE WATCH.

OK. I like indie movies. I like indie movies about relationships and love, but this movie is crap. I'd keep seeing pictures and gifs of it on tumblr, so I decided to give it a try, after all, a lot of the times, they end up being very good films. But what a disappointment. It really sucks when you are waiting for the minutes to pass because the plot is so boring. The characters are not interesting at all and you can't really feel sympathy for any of them, what's the point then? Maybe the music? Not worth it. Cinematography? Lame. This could have been a good film, but nothing of it is worth watching. Don't watch it. Seriously. I love watching movies about complicated relationships and broken hearted characters, but this one is a waste of time. ' p.s: These must be the worst drunk performances I've seen in my life.

I've read other reviews of the movie. At least one blames the couple's issues solely on the girl for being codependent. This is a depiction of a COMPLETELY codependent couple. It is not one sided because they both have bouts with it. The ending is assumed, but unstated. Unlike a prior reviewer, I have more issue with Dan cheating than with her having a problem with it. The whole film isn't one of a boozy drug scene or of sex either. As someone who was in a young long term relationship where the other person was dependent on me I could relate to both sides. I just didn't get to experience nearly as much joy as they did from the relationship. My joy ended at 6 mo and the relationship was 3 yrs. Also, if they wanted to make this work, they could have...the movie cut where it didn't seem that they would, but left it to the viewer.
