Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.

This is the biggest slap to the face to leprechaun fans. I still think the Cabin Fever remake is the worse and this is second worse. It did take it seriously but still it sucks. The only one scene in the movie that made me think it's a leprechaun movie is the spine ripping. The director said he got that idea from Psycho? I don't remember Norman Bates rip any spine out INCLUDING THE REMAKE OF PSYCHO!!! The "leprechaun" is more like a predator and pumpkinhead then a leprechaun! The story is crap including everything else. The one cast member I like from the movie is Brendan Fletcher (he's from Freddy vs Jason). Honestly I like the poster (not with Hornswoggle face in it) it looks cool, better than the movie. This is the worst out of them all the Leprechaun movies. Don't watch this hot garbage, THIS MOVIE SUCKS!!!!!!!

I felt so compelled to express my supreme disappointment and hatred of this horrible movie that I am writing my first review on IMDb. Not only does this movie have nothing to do with the franchise, it's not even a good stand alone horror. I love wonky horror movies, but this one is a truly boring, god awful piece of garbage that deserves to be tried for treason and sentenced to a long, torturous death. May ISIS behead the people responsible for producing this film and mispackaging it with the Leprechaun collection. There is no leprechaun. There is no origin. The title should have an asterisk, gigantic quotation marks around it, or an "lol" at the end.ZERO stars.

Guys, first of all I want to say is that this work has nothing to do with previous six movies. I consider it is a pretty good film, admit that some may find it scary, but it is quite another movie. There is no comedy segment in here, not a single fine joke. I want you to notice that actor for the title creature (leprechaun as they misnamed it) has not seen a movie of the Leprechaun series, this fact tells a lot. Creators of this flick tried to make a distinctively different kind of movie, they brought it on. But the pity is why did they call it Leprechaun? One of the few good attributes of the picture is its shortness. By the way about its "leprechaun", many fans of original series will find it unpleasant to see such a leprechaun, it is just a regular wild roaring monster from a horror movie. The only resembling features are lust for gold and Irish origin and that is it. Do not expect old good leprechaun stuff from this movie. Everything is cheap and dull.

Most of the reviews here do nothing but whine about it not being like the original. Well, I am glad it wasn't. I don't think a horror movie should be more of a comedy than horror. No the acting wasn't spectacular, but they did OK and it was fun to watch. I do think they could have done a little better on the leprechaun monster, as it did look like it had been burnt or something. But the leprechauns of Celtic lore made them out to be horrific monsters anyway. And in all, I think this was a good little horror flick, so thank you to the director and screenwriter for taking it a totally new and HORROR direction!
