One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

A film for the ages, with two amazing and gritty performances by Josh O'Connor and Alec Secareanu.

Hardly ever feel the need to rate a movie. But this one was a must.

I saw the rather auspicious title of this film on the movie poster, and knowing absolutely nothing else about the film, decided to give it a go. I was immediately engaged. The beautiful setting, austere cinematography and sound really drew me in. My interest was maintained as I was introduced to the small but unique and original cast of characters. Not really a lot of dialogue, these folks aren't big talkers, and honestly what was spoken I could only understand three-quarters of what they were saying due to their heavy accents. It didn't really matter as I understood through their actions and body language what was being expressed. Then a stranger comes into their lives, and while he's also not much of a conversationalist, he does bring a warmth and expression of emotion that is welcomed and gradually embraced. I really enjoyed this film and found it quite moving. The way they worked the land and found beauty in its severity. I felt the stories final conclusion was good and right, and natural. The only small reservation I have is when the main character Johnny visits Gheorghe at his new job. I felt the direction was a bit out of synch with the rest of the film, but otherwise I really enjoyed this film tremendously.

This movie is like watching Brokeback Mountain English. I have asked myself the whole movie if in this there would be a budget for makeup as there was not in that one. This however focuses on a short section of the characters' lives. It is a credible movie. It puts you in the movie, although, it takes a while to start, it repeats a bit at the beginning and in the center part as well. Then he gets on track and goes like silk. That's the good thing, if in the end it had been repeated too, I would have bored a lot. Although I think that the film has two final planes. It's already said. The actors are all great. Even those who only have one sequence are very good. Thanks to the actors you follow the whole movie. He has a pretty picture, which gets you into the movie. Thanks to the climate of the United Kingdom, so gray, photography does not have planes with much light. What I do not like very much is the address. He can not tell the movie without repeating a lot. He does not know how to put the camera ever. It makes a film that improves as it progresses but it costs. It is a good option to spend almost two hours.
