a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

What a devilishly delightful film this turned out to be...This movie could be placed under the category of "rape & revenge" stories...Which it is to a point...But this film is so much more than that...I would say that this film is a combination of "I Spit On Your Grave" with NONE of the graphic and disturbing rape scenes..."Raising Cain" with duel personalities instead of multiples...With a touch of "Fight Club" hints throughout the duration of the film....At least that's how I saw it...Danielle Panabaker is a highly intellectual young Hollywood talented actress with impeccable credentials in show business...It was quite an audacious move for her to take on a film like this...Her performance in Mr. Brooks as his daughter would have more than likely led to her character becoming more dark and intense...Unfortunately the less than stellar box office results for Mr. Brooks probably means there will be no sequel...But that's alright, because as far as I am concerned...This film is the unofficial prequel to Mister Brooks...This could be the story of what happened to Jane Brooks while she was away at college before going home to her serial killer Father...Nicole LaLiberte was also wonderful in this movie...Nicole LaLiberte is to Danielle Panabaker what Brad Pitt was to Edward Norton in Fight Club...Only Nicole was darker...Much, much darker...This film will stand the test of time and develop a cult following...That is if it hasn't already...This is a powerful...Mind bending...And Sexy thrill ride from start to finish...And that's all there is too it...

One reviewer called this a "Brilliant Movie" and basically said all women in the universe should see it, as it sheds light on how women must protect themselves in a male dominated world? What a psycho reviewer! If there was a movie about men killing women for revenge, it would never be made. This insane reviewer aside, this movie rocked. Lu stole the show. Pannabaker is always a goodie-goodie in other roles; it was refreshing to see her lose it here. All men (at least intelligent ones) know that within every women, no matter how sweet appearing, there may lie a twisted killer beneath. Shae the main character goes out with a married man, who she knows is a married man. She's no victim there, no pure flower abused by a man, even though the guy is a total toad. Yes, she gets raped, and it's great seeing what happens to him. But to make her a feminist heroine? No. Other reviewers said that it's all in Shae's mind. Maybe. If so, I missed that and am embarrassed by this. This movie is s a simple "girl has had enough with men" movie, with nothing worthwhile to say otherwise, despite the "feminist-all men are pigs" mentality. Still a fun, although admittedly degenerate night of fun for me and my wife...Lu Lu. (Actually not my wife's name.)

Fed up with being mistreated by men, meek college student Shae (a solid and appealing performance by the gorgeous Danielle Panabaker) joins forces with uninhibited wild girl Lulu (a dynamic and mesmerizing portrayal by luscious redhead Nicole LaLiberte) to wage war on all the evil scumbag guys who have wronged them. Writer/director Austin Chick certainly has his heart in the right place with this feminist treatise on a misogynistic society, but alas stacks the deck way too much by presenting almost every last male character as a detestable creep. Moreover, the meandering narrative, sluggish pace, and glum tone make this film quite a heavy-going chore to slog through. Worse yet, Chick generates precious little tension and fails to properly follow through on the edgy potential of the promising premise by having the violence either occur off screen or displaying disappointing restraint when comes to the gore. The lame and obvious "surprise" twist ending doesn't help matters much as well. Fortunately, the strong chemistry between the two leads keeps the movie watchable, Chick shows a real flair for striking stylish visuals (Kat Westergaard's sharp cinematography is stunning throughout), and Nathan Larson's moody score hits the brooding spot. A strictly so-so film.

it seems that nearly EVERYONE missed the point of this movie.LU was not real. she was Shae's shadow, her through the looking glass other self. there was even a poster there, in the penultimate scene, with the word ALICE, seen through the looking glass. Shae had worked through her revenge fantasies, and learnt that it did not make her feel better. she had learnt that that the thirst for revenge prevented her forming new relationships and she had defeated her own desires for it.the final scene showed that Lu was part of Shae explicitly - with Lu smoking in the background ( beyond the wall) as Shae sits on the stairwell.all that aside, what a great movie. love the acting, the cinematography and the well synced soundtrack. a great great movie
