I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

I love the movie. A lovely girl who is in love with a house. And dad and mum who love their daughter and help her to realize his dream. The passionate to pursue the winning is also great. Dakota is a actress I like. And I also like her in move Man on Fire. Dakota is doing well in the movie. the music is also great. The scene in the movie is also great. The length is proper for such a story and in a good arrangement. And the family is having trouble in finding the money for the race is impressive. The cost of pursuing the dreamer is sometime expensive. In the end, when we see the victory, we shall also remember all the hard the have met.

Ben Crane is a racehorse trainer whose life is slowly sliding apart. His horse farm has no horses and is being sold off bit by bit. He is almost estranged from his father and drifting away from his wife and daughter. Even his work as a trainer is unsatisfactory, being forced to toe the line imposed by his employer. And when he is forced to race a horse who isn't well, and the horse is injured as a result, things snap: Ben is out of a job, with the injured (and therefore worthless) horse as part of his termination package. What happens to the horse and, as a result, to Ben and his family, forms the rest of the film. This is good, wholesome stuff. Yes, it is perhaps predictable, but that doesn't really matter. No, it didn't actually happen (being "inspired by" is not the same as being "based on"), but that doesn't really matter either. What matters is that it is entertaining, carries some morality, and leaves you feeling good. And one of the things which impressed me is that Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning (in yet another one of those exceptional child performances), Elisabeth Shue and Kris Kristofferson, despite their familiarity as performers, had me believing that they were a real family.Good stuff.

I fell in-love with this movie from beginning to end,the first time i watched it i closed my eyes in the beginning when i saw the horse "Sonador" fall,i cried through this whole movie and at the same time, had a wonderful smile on my face..Dakota fanning is just wonderful, all of my favorite actors in this movie, i wish it could have been longer and shown more of "Sonador's" recovery etc,,but the last 10minutes,the last part of the race i could feel the uplifting experience of "Sonador"across the finishing line,a baby could watch this it is just that compatible for families.this movie deserves an academy..so needless to say whenever it comes on,and i have also taped it, i have to watch it again and again.just to see the bad guys in it,if there are such things in this,loose...I fell in-love with the sheik when he spoke to Dakota about her horse winning,i would have loved to have seen them all sitting together tho at the races.the sheik the cranes and the wonderful Spanish horsey handler..it did my heart so good to see the Prince, stand up and acknowledge "Cale" and "sonador" in the winners circle...thanks for letting me express these feelings..god bless to all. "Irene"

The movie "Dreamer" was a pretty darned good movie but was not a blockbuster. Eliz. Shue played a really good part and so did Kurt Russell and a really believable situation with their old ranch and lifestyle. The acting was professional and done very well. Little Fanning did an extraordinary good job as a young actress in this movie. Kris Kristofferson just didn't cut it for me as the old man. I'm used to seeing him in macho flicks, not portrayed as some old Grandpa. They would have done better with getting Wilford Brimley in this movie. However, with that said, it's a good movie and entertained me for a couple of hours and made me forget my troubles. BUT it couldn't come close to one of my FAVORITE horse racing movies of all time: Nat'l Velvet, w/Mickey Rooney Donald Crisp and Elizabeth Taylor. Dreamer was more like a business deal with Dakota as the owner and not enough emotion and feeling in the movie and not believable for me when he won. In Nat'l Velvet, in my opinion, it was all about a horse's love for a little girl and definitely believable that he won that National race. Little Elizabeth Taylor was so innocent and loving in Nat'l V and kicked ass at the end in the big National race with all those fancy trained horses and jockeys. They couldn't beat the one thing that motivated "the Pi". He ran with his heart. He loved that little girl and he knew what he was doing when he had her on him and was running against all those fancy race horses that should have walked all over him, but.......love triumphs every time, as it should, over money, prestige and most important the odds and it made for a lot better movie + in Nat'l V, the climactic ending seemed to take forever but in my books the timing was perfect. The music of "Dreamer" is definitely worth the $$ though. I commend John Debney for a beautifully written movie score. I bought the CD and play it all the time, so I know. Dennis (aka bearclaw)
