if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

We live in a time when the media, Hollywood, and the East Coast, West Coast states and urban populations are oriented to believe the false propaganda that Republicans and Tea Party advocates are racists, dominated by selfish wealthy donors who care only about preserving their wealth from taxation or regulation. The value of this film is that it presents the truth that those labels are applicable to the Democratic Party as much or more than the Republican Party. Americans need to see this to understand that party labels are not reliable to understand history or politics. We need to be critical and skeptical to look beyond the labels and question propaganda from the media and the politicians. In a democracy, the voters need to spend the time and the effort to protect our freedoms and our nation. It is not easy.

Not really a 10, but I had to do it to balance out all the knee-jerk "1"s below. This film is primarily valuable due to its historical facts. The critical comments here are interesting: They tend to rail ad hominem instead of challenging the facts presented. Yes, the Republicans are worthy of their own expository, they are far from pure too. But the facts presented here peel away the "aren't we nice" and "we care about you" facade of the Democratic party. Look to the true history of politics and slavery, racism, eugenics, roots of the KKK, local "big bosses", community activism - and ponder the current state of our nation. Maybe it's only half the picture, but it is better than none.

There are many problems with the film, here are just a couple that nullify D'Souza's argument that Democratic Party remained the same as its dark days. 1) instead of looking at whether people switched parties mid-life and concluding the "big switch" is a lie, how about looking at the party KKK members belonged to and endorsed over time? 2) Trump and his associates idolize Andrew Jackson, openly talk about him as a model president. There you go, the Big Switch. The film's core argument quickly dismissed by the Trump Admin itself.

Fake news. Should come with a warning. Seriously. Seems to be made from the point of view that politics is a war to win rather than a good faith effort to better our situation. This has a stink to it that can't be pardoned away.
