It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

The movie starts out like a slasher film with a series of murders in 1910. 100 years later, a van filled with tourists headed to a resort gets stranded in that same house due to an accident. A large storm is brewing. The music during the credits would indicate the film is a thriller-mystery and not the slasher film it started out to be. Val Kilmer plays a corporate lawyer from Chicago. He cheats on his wife (Bonnie Somerville) with everyone possible. His wife knows about the constant affairs and would like to have some sex from time to time too. There is a pair of brothers (Luke Goss and Matt Barr), one of which is into past life regressions. Ving Rhames is their host. There is also a doctor in the group (Christian Baha). Rebecca Da Costa is a convenience store clerk. There is immediate tension between Kilmer and Rhames as it becomes a battle to see who can act the most ostentatious, contrary, and bizarre. As the 100 year storm rages on, the events of the past unfold in the present. The problem with this film is that it tries so hard to be clever, it isn't. Ving Rhames with his fedora, time piece, and cigar love making creates a lousy character as we see him as "Tony Todd light." Kilmer, likewise had a bad role, one where acting was optional. Overall the characters were fairly drab which made for a dull feature.F-bomb, opening sex and nudity (Tia Sage)

Easily tied for worst movie I have ever seen and may be the worst. I thought the acting throughout was horrible other than what the people involved in the actual murder event did at the beginning and in later flashbacks. That was all that was good. The soundtrack to this thing awful. The lines the actors had to say at times simple, pathetic with nothing that would really grab you and I definitely think they were handicapped by the lines given to them but you could also see that some were just plain bad actors/actresses. I honestly can't believe they were given $6 million to make this garbage. This is easily tied with what I consider one of the worst films ever which was Freddy Got Fingered. The only good thing in that movie was the scene with Tom Green rolling around with a dead deer or something and that honestly I tried to laugh at but it was just creepy.Seriously if I could give this film a zero I would.Do not watch this even if it is given to you free which lucky for me it was as part of a rental deal at Family Video where I got 3 free movies for renting a video game mid week or something like that.In regards to the title of this movie I can't even figure out why it is called this nor do I really want to spend any time figuring out why it is called that because who honestly cares when this movie is just so bad !!!!Avoid this movie at all costs.

This was a great movie although the house itself is too modern for the premise of this story. I love the idea of this story...mainly because I like filling in holes and trying to "see" what the writer is trying to say. As for the main characters, I HATED Val Kilmer to the utmost which is where the writers were trying to go. Val Kilmer's character is the antagonist in the present as well as 100 years ago. I really enjoyed Ving Rhames;s performance - this story was his story and should have been told from his perspective. As for the rest of the characters, they were really much too comfortable in a "stranger's" home, way too comfortable. In the end, as Ving Rhames put all the pieces together the (fill in the blank) thought it would be fabulous to write him out...too bad...Rule One: Never kill the Source or the one who knows all.Nothing is perfect, but this story was ruined by "a lot of ego, greed and stupidity". Most true artwork lives a tragic life and "7 Below" is not exempt. Where can I get the Director's Cut? Also, where are the features feature on the DVD? Has the Editor of the final cut been haunted into oblivion yet? Were the accents on "Courtney" and the "Dr." REALLY needed?

Can't believe I lasted 48 minutes in. I will gladly post my address so someone can come over and punch me in the face for actually attempting this to enjoy this movie. The plot is horrible. The actors are horrible. Val Kilmer is HORRIBLE. I also loved sitting through the opening credits with 15 production companies logos going across the screen. 2 of which have the word "fish" in them. My wife and I wanted to sit down and watch a scary movie on a rainy day. Now I have to suck it up and go get another movie. UGH...... Stay away if you aren't willing to waste your life away.....
