This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

Just watched Thoroughbreds on VOD and I'm happy to say I thought it was quite enjoyable. This movie is more than anything, a character study, with darkly comedic moments. To call it a comedy would be misrepresenting the movie and mismarketing it. However, it's comedic moments all stuck the landing, and it's more thought-provoking tones aren't overshadowed. The highlets are definitely the actors, Anya Taylor Joy and Olivia Cooke provide terrific performances as the two upper-middle class girls, one desperate, the other devoid of emotion, but it's Anton Yelchin as the drug dealer who steals the show (RIP). If you enjoy plot-light character studies that ask what it is to be worthy of a normal life, then I'd certainly recommend Thoroughbreds.

Don't let the "good" reviews convince you into watching it... like it did with me! Wasted 90 minutes of my life on this! I've seen bad movies where I thought "okay, at least some parts were entertaining" but this move has to be the worst movie I have ever watched in my life. I watched it right to the end with hope that it will end up being an okay movie, but god was I so wrong! If you don't believe me, go ahead and waste your time.

I was really impressed with this movie. It had great acting by Olivia Cooke & Anya Taylor-Joy. They are two of my favourite actress. I been a fan of Cooke since Bates motel season one. I been a fan of Taylor-Joy since I saw her amazing performance in the witch. She was definitely the best thing about the witch in my opinion. The cinematography was beautiful. It was dark and unnerving. Great directorial debut for Cory Finley. The black humour in the film was good. I'm glad I finally got around to watch it. It's in my top 10 best films of this year so far. I never got bored while watching it. All the characters was interesting. Anton Yelchin was really good in the movie. I wish he had more screen time. God rest his soul. The climax of the ending was quite dark. I would definitely recommend this film. Brilliant & well acted piece of cinema. 7/10

Two young women, nearly completely lacking any sort of redeeming qualities, resort to some very stupid, non visionary, boring bits of tomfoolery. The only redeeming quality this film had was Anton's performance, the step dad's genuinely convincing creepiness, and black hearted attitude, and a few of the sets. Other than that, there is not much to like here. The direction was fairly competent. But, the story was poorly executed, and the writing was typical Hollywood these days, written for adolescents. Nothing to challenge the imagination or intellect. In the end, this was supposed to be a diabolical conclusion. It was more like, who cares? I could see this coming from eight miles away. Boring. Vanilla.
