I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

So, what did you expect? A bigger and better Nerd episode? Right.. None of the scenes looked anywhere similar - like literally, the whole thing was filmed with 30 different cameras under 100 different lighting conditions! The characters? Only the Nerd is pretty much there, the rest as some nobodies who got invented "on the spot", or so it seems. The storyline? Well the storyline was actually pretty decent, or at least the basic premise was. The acting? The Nerd seems tired and bland throughout the entire movie, like some limp and soulless beta-male.The problem IMHO is that James had too much of an ego. He could have literally shown how it's done even to the likes of Lloyd Kaufman as far as slapstick and way-over-the-top comedy is concerned, but instead it was James' own little ego trip into Hollywood... or at least the closest he could ever get to it. So much so that it ruined the movie.Only thing that could have saved it in a way if he (James, as the Nerd perhaps) would have reviewed it and given it both thumbs down. That way everyone would know that he could suppress his ego. But instead he called all critics "haters". Oh well, very sad, because IMHO from that point on James pretty much went downhill with his entire show.

Why even bother to make a movie about a character who curses at old video games? if the makers of it were smart they would have created something new.the whole thing was such a missed opportunity.i mean they could have still used the character in a different context. the storytelling aspect is even worse.if this is supposed to be a comedy then why isn't it even funny? have these people really such a lame sense of humour? this movie is not funny nor entertaining nor does it have any artistic value.so what is the point of it??? in conclusion this entire project was a bad idea and i doubt that they will ever get that much money again to make another one.

I do not want to use the words, "disgrace", "abomination", and "gaming" in the same sentence to describe this movie. While they may be true, I want to give this movie a fair review like I would any other game. Having said that, I am a long time fan of the AVGN; I started watching his movies sometime around 2007; but when I see this movie, it does the AVGN a disservice. The Angry Video Game Nerd is all about reviewing bad games; he reviews them so that we don't have to play them. If it isn't about the entertainment value behind swearing and getting frustrated at games (we've all been there) then it is often about learning about bad games that the viewer doesn't know existed. This could be an awesome premise for a movie, but the movie pays no homages to the character as much as it involves him in an adventure; I can remember a similar movie in a similar vane, "Peewee's Big Adventure".The AVGN lives playing bad games as a lifestyle; he also works as a clerk for a video game rental store. The movie throws him into bad acting, stereotyping of nerds, and otherwise a plot with him against the production schedule of a greedy company that holds no values sacred when it comes to gaming. The plot could have stayed there, but it instead throws in a secret government project and unfinished business with the video game crash of 1983.The movie has a few good things going for it; it has the AVGN, the opening montage and music pays homage to him and looks good, the opening documentary on E.T. is not out of place in the movie; the dream scene that pays homage to bad, but classic monster movies of the 1950s-1980s, is also good. However, out of place special effects, over the top characterization, bad action sequences, and bad jokes make this an otherwise bad movie. In this day and age where good movies are plenty, I do not expect to see such a bad movie. The movie is quite possibly the worst I have ever reviewed; I do not recommend this to gamers, and I would suggest fans of the AVGN steer clear of it.Originally posted to Orion Age (http://www.orionphysics.com/? p=6156).

now i don't wanna be mean, but i guess this movie has everything that is good; the plot, the jokes, the whole way its been made is great. even the fact of having cameos by like the blacknerd and those good actors , all is nice.i just thing the nerd had put less delivery in it , its why its a little putting down, but despite it , i really thought it was an awesome movie.... I mean, this is really a great movie. it a sort of ''feel good movie'' , nice references, action-filled, etc etc.in no mean i backed this movie, but back then i remember being delighted about AVGN in being a movie.i can still say its a great piece that fan can enjoy, and remember with years. Would gladly have it in my DVD collection
