Not documentary style! I hate POV jiggle cam movies. Also - you get to see the actual monster. Great makeup! Acting is better than those home movie Big Foot / Yeti things, and the ending is fun too. I'm sure if this was being reviewed by a 'name your gender' professional reviewer, it would be dreck, but for the rest of us, it's a fun and not too gory trip.

What did you know, there is a decent Bigfoot horror film out there! It's a horror comedy and, while it's not great at either, it's perfectly decent in both aspects. Matt McCoy (a familiar face who may be most famous for playing former mental patient Lloyd Braun on Seinfeld) became paralyzed after a rock climbing accident. While spending some time in a cabin with his jerky nurse (Christien Tinsley), he observes some weird goings-on in the forest next to his house. Soon he catches sight of a sasquatch, and it starts terrorizing the sorority girls next door. So, yeah, it's Rear Window meets Bigfoot with a little bit of a Sorority House Massacre thrown in. And it's a lot of fun! Jeffrey Combs and Lance Henriksen also pop up as a couple of Bigfoot hunters, and Paul Gleason (the principal from The Breakfast Club) and Phil Morris (who also had a recurring role on Seinfeld as lawyer Jackie Chiles) play a couple of cops. The sasquatch costume is particularly laughable, but it's funny. I don't know if they decided on horror comedy before or after they got their costume from the designer.

"Abominable" is a Bigfoot flick released to Syfy in 2006 where Matt McCoy plays a paralyzed man who returns to his deep woods home six months after losing his wife in a climbing accident. He slowly becomes aware of a Bigfoot-type creature prowling the area and preying on the five college girls vacationing in the house next door. Unfortunately no one believes him when he attempts to get help and his house isn't wheelchair-friendly. Horror ensues.McCoy is best known for his reappearing role in Seinfeld as Lloyd Braun, George's friend from high school who goes loony. He's a bit reminiscent of Anthony Perkins of the "Psycho" movies. The story combines the Bigfoot legend with Hitchcock's "Rear Window" and "Friday the 13th" and works well as it's entertaining throughout.Bigfoot as presented here is a 7-foot hulk of unadulterated horror. He exists for one reason only -- to terrorize, kill and devour people (and anything else). The film doesn't shoot for anything much deeper than this; it's a deep woods slasher/horror flick in the mold of "Friday the 13th." The main difference being that Bigfoot here doesn't need weapons like Jason, he's got his teeth and overwhelming brawn.Aside from being consistently entertaining "Abominable" has good locations (Idylwild, California), good production values for a TV flick, Lance Henriksen in a small role and some cute girls, particularly Tiffany Shepis and Karin Anna Cheung. The former looks thoroughly uninteresting until she has a "Whoa Momma" shower scene. Moreover, Haley Joel has a striking face and is a quality female protagonist. Unfortunately the film only plays it semi-serious as there are some campy aspects (unlike "Sasquatch Hunters" and "Sasquatch Mountain," which take the subject totally seriously). Otis (the male nurse), the hillbilly with an oxygen tube, the cops and the closing scene with creature-eyes in the night all infect the film with a goofy we're-not-taking-this-completely-seriously vibe, not to mention the Jack Elam-like face of the monster, which is more goofy than horrifying.Regardless, "Abominable" works well for what it is.Runtime: 94 minutes.GRADE: B (very close to a B+)

Well, what a surprise! Another Sasquatch/Yeti/Big Foot movie, and here is Lance Henriksen again. That's two in one year. Of course, he doesn't have as big a role as he did in Sasquatch Mountain. After all, he was in nine movies in 2006; he can't star in all of them. The star is Matt McCoy, who did a lot of films, including Bigfoot: The Unforgettable Encounter in 1994, and L.A. Confidential in 1997, before focusing mostly on TV, with recent roles in "Huff" and "Carnivàle."Eye candy includes Harvard Alum Haley Joel, Karin Anna Cheung, Top Model Ashley Hartman, and Scream Queen Tiffany Shepis. This film had a goodly amount of suspense, a great score, some good humor, and some good acting by favorites like Hendiksen and Jeffrey Combs.
