Out of all the Peanuts specials and the Christmas specials that were shown on television, this one is my favorite Christmas special. So, why is this my favorite? "A Charlie Brown Christmas" is about a boy name Charlie Brown, who doesn't know about the true meaning of Christmas or what he wants to do with Christmas which it does make him feel not happy about it. So, he gets offered to do a Christmas play but gets mocked by some of the other Peanuts gang. Now, Charlie Brown must understand on what is the true meaning of Christmas. This was the first special that features the Peanuts gang, and for being a Christmas special. Bill Melendez, director of this special who also directed plenty of Peanuts specials alongside with Charles M. Schulz who is the creator of the Peanuts comic strip as they both teamed up with the animators to create one of the most beloved Christmas specials of all time, and what do you know it they succeed it. They put so much time and effort with the animation; story; characters; music; etc. The animation is pretty darn good as nowadays they continue to get updated for each special they make. The story is very well told alongside with the characters as they are a whole lot of fun to watch. The music by Vince Guaraldi is one of the most memorable scores for this special. Also, I really do love the message at the end where Linus speaks about what is the true meaning of Christmas; it is a very well done scene, and that is the true meaning of Christmas which I can identify with. I mostly do watch this special when it comes to Christmas, and it always gives me that proper Christmas feeling. I love "A Charlie Brown Christmas," and it will always be my favorite Christmas Special; heck I many need to create a list on what are my favorite Peanuts special. Overall, I give "A Charlie Brown Christmas" a perfect 10 out of 10.

In the spirit of the holiday, I wanted to watch a little something that is Christmas-themed and is not too long. I had decided to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas, the character still fresh in my mind after watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving at a work luncheon. I've never watched Charlie Brown cartoons growing up, and now that I've seen a couple, they were pretty good. Here, Charlie Brown is dismayed about the materialism he sees his friends and dog Snoopy (he decorates his doghouse with Christmas lights in hopes of winning the best decoration prize) engage in and is feeling depressed during the holiday. His friend Lucy suggests that he become director of the school Christmas pageant and, after doing so, Charlie Brown struggles in getting the cast in order, thus, struggles to learn what the real meaning of Christmas is.It's not a riveting or exciting story with adventures and suspense, but it is a light-hearted and cozy cartoon short that includes a great message about Christmas, amidst all the commercial aspects. The animation wasn't too vibrant but it has character and is nicely drawn. It is a nice little movie for the entire family where, again, we could learn what Christmas means and how it could unite all your loved ones together in harmony.Grade B

Unlike simple video presentations, this timeless Christmas offering is bit of comfort food as much as it is a piece of Americana. Charile Brown searches for the meaning of Christmas, running into the utter commercialism we all deride (yet we fill up the shopping malls anyway). Charlie (who is abused at every turn) takes on the role of the director a Christmas play, much to the disdain of his peers. They continually refer to him as a blockhead. Even his dog enters a Christmas lighting contest, turning his doghouse into a showplace. As time passes, the din of the season overwhelms our young hero to where he can't stand it anymore. He must seek out the true meaning of the holiday. This is a precious offering, utilizing one of the most recognizable soundtracks in all of cinema, and seems to give us a little boost at the holiday season. See it an grab a little childhood.

You might not agree with me on my opinion that this is the best Christmas Movie/Special because you might like Its a Wonderful Life or Arthur Christmas better. But Too me, A Charlie Brown Christmas is perfection. This classic is the first Animated Peanuts Special to ever walk upon this planet. This special was so successful that there were more of these like Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (Which I will get to later) and the odd Cancer Special Why Charlie Brown Why? The story begins with some fantastic music, beautiful animation and very funny dialog. You notice if you haven't read the Peanuts comics before that they speak like adults which can get very interesting.Charlie Brown is pretty depressed about Christmas because he doesn't know the meaning of it. Lucy gives him the chance to direct the Christmas Play. The main thing people talk about in this special is how Christmas is all Commercialism. No one listens to Charlie Brown as he seems confident enough but always fails to get to the point with the actors.Characters are like a square, or should I say like a blockhead? They are never circular with just one note. When the characters are square, this means they have sides to them. These sides create what feel like living characters that are right beside you.The music is by The Vince Guaraldi Trio who may have made one of the best soundtracks of all time. Guaraldi uses appropriate music for each scene and knows when to not use music when not needed. I have the soundtrack both on CD and Green Vinyl with a Gold 45 RPM of Linus and Lucy. Thats how much I love this soundtrack. I bought it three times. Finally, the most important part of this special is the message said to us by Linus about the meaning of Christmas. It warms my heart every time I hear him say that speech. Its one of the greatest moments in the history of Film and TV.It gets better every time I sit down to watch it. If you haven't seen it, I urge you to buy the VHS at a flea market or get the special on Blu Ray. You haven't experienced life until you have seen this special.Perfect.100/100 A+
