Don't Believe the Hype
The first must-see film of the year.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
The biggest give away was the bad acting of the pizza guy looking at the photo, and the network meeting at the end, also bad acting. However, in response to an earlier post..they do not have to get permission to broadcast as it is a doco (anyone seen Kurt and Courtney?). But Sci-Fi Channel did have written permission to broadcast at the beginning, that is why they received the letter pulling the plug later on. Also if anyone is still suspicious about whether this is real or not..you'll have to wait and see if this Fakumentary is part of the Special Features on their DVD release, as the director gets to have a say as to what goes on the disc. Did the Blair Witch doco, released before the film end up on the DVD release? Does anyone know? This was a great show, but it does copy the Blair Witch idea.
Even though I have seen nothing with my own eye. I believe the buried secret could be / is a true fact and people are mocking the documentary because they simply don't understand it. Me and my friends was glued to the television in the middle of the night. People always mock what they do not know about and there so much we don't know. The evidence to me was quite hard and there was so many unanswered questions. The only scene from this I could question was the website scene on which you go on (m. nights) and one of the people that John Edwards spoke to on the computer which I think was raven 5 who knew what John was wearing and where he was. I though instantly oh there is a webcam somewhere but still had me thinking there might not of been. Also what was weird when the girl showed John and his crew, the pond in dead of the night (You would catch me anywhere like that at night) It actually quite motivated me myself to look into it which I am doing. Even if this doc was not true. I still know that what was showed does exist and we shouldn't mock it. I think they are just scared as we are maybe
I wasn't impressed with this film. It was like reading the cover of the Weekly World News in line at the grocery store. And crows? Much of this was filmed in the winter. Crows form large flocks at this time of year, for safety. They are social, intelligent and curious. Study up on their behavior & natural history....they are quite interesting w/o all the supernatural associations. The Sci Fi channel being too strict to do this as a hoax? C'mon! You really need to get out more. It was a pathetic attempt at fame....too bad it had to drag on for 3 hours. I surely hope they don't pull something like this again! Perhaps it'll be right up there with Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. With all that can be done with digital media, I don't know why they thought anyone with a brain would believe this, but hey, that's just my opinion.
When first seeing the add for "Buried Secret" on Sci-Fi, I did believe that it might be an unauthorized piece. Having seen his three last films, however, and knowing of this affinity for clever twists, I did suspect that this might be more of a making-of "The Village."The first scene of "Buried Secret" put both of these to rest for me. This film is part mockumentary, part infomercial for "The Village", and a dash of "Blair Witch Project." I won't give any details away, but I have to wonder whether a piece like this wouldn't be more appropriate for the die-hard "M" fan to watch as DVD extra content released with "The Village."
