It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

The master of Brazilian documentary, Eduardo Coutinho, try to explore some different venues in probably his most controversy documentary. "Um dia na Vida" is a 90 minutes clip of almost 24 hours of recorded television broadcast. The images were collected during only one day in several TV channels of Brazil. Coutinho used to explore interviews in his work. Here it's different. Coutinho is just a watcher, as us. He watched all the TV programs and try to deconstructing them, mostly, Broadcast and News programs. The idea of recordings during only a day is similar to Ridley Scott's "Life in a Day", made a year later. Because of legal problems and copyrights, the movie is not released yet. There were selected sessions only in festivals, without selling of tickets. We watch the movie for free. By the end of the 90 minutes compilation of the best (or is it worst) of the Brazilian television, the feeling is unique: how poor is our popular culture today, addict to gossips and griped in a sort way of misery. Hail to the king! Hail to Coutinho!
