This film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

OK all you non believers.Sure, the movie started out very slow, but little, by little it did leave you in suspense. The situation on where their interviewing the local towns people, the young blond lady (the one who had the most info.on the infamous madame).Everything this young lady said is true & is documented.Google it.The poor slaves were actually tortured worse than what she mentioned, & what she said was definitely disturbing enough. It has even been documented that her previous residence is still haunted & has gone through many owners, & has been many owners different type of business's, school, apartments, etc. In each of these business owners were reports of various paranormal type activity,or sightings, especially African American Ghosts. So out of respect to those who lost their lives to these two diabolical monsters, please do some research before judging. It was part true & the other half was entertainment! 😊👻💀

As a horror film The St. Francisville Experiment is effective. There are well executed scares, eerie environments, surprisingly strong camera work for a found footage venture, and a paranoia inducing aura that will continue even after the film has finished. But this effectiveness is largely watered down by a handful of bad decisions. There's poor continuity of mood from scene to scene, there seem to be continuity errors in lighting and room layout, all the characters have one or two frustratingly annoying ticks, and the pace is very muddled. 35% of this film is honestly scary claustrophobic moments in a darkened haunted house, and the other 65% is off-putting, meandering dialogue that neither adds to the characters nor to the horrors. For the horror fanatic, that 35% is effective enough to warrant a viewing, for the less than fanatic, it's just not worth it.

I watched this when I was a kid (~10 yrs old) and I remember being so SCARED! For one I remember thinking it was a legit DOCUMENTARY! Now 12 years later! Its not scary or horrifying in anyway. There are moments where you believe your about to be scared out your seat but it just falls a bit flat each time.Looking at it again after so many years, I'm able to distinguish the acting as real or fake. The acting in this film wasn't the worst I've ever seen but it was very obvious that when it came to being scared or acting like being scared -- it came across as trying to hard or just too exaggerated.

I don't know why I watched this movie... I mean, the premise sounds really interesting and delivers an excellent and horrifying Horror legend but that isn't enough to consider even renting this mediocre effort.Too sad that "The Blair Witch Project" spawned mediocre carbon copies that only tried to get into the success speed wagon. This crappy movie dealt with interesting topics such as a psychic, an ouija board, and even some supernatural beings. The truth is that the movie had potential but the execution and lack of originality make it one of the worst "experiments" in Horror.
