If I take a look at Akshay Kumar's career graph over the past 5 years, most of his movies were ridiculous. I mean, I am still unable to understand why he chooses movies like Rowdy Rathore, Boss, Khiladi 786 when he can do a gem like Special 26. Boss has few good elements in it including the songs and some emotional scenes. But what obviously fails to impress is the storyline and some scientific scenes( mark here "scientific"- one where a plant starts growing with the mere sweat of Akshay Kumar). Story is as normal as it can get and predictable. Ronit Roy is the only feel good factor in this movie(not sure why he did not join movies earlier). Supporting cast including Mithun ,newcomer Shiv and Aditi Rao Hydari fail to make an impact. Overall, Boss is only for die hard Akshay fans and if you are that desperate to watch it, wait for it's satellite release.

South remakes have been in bollywood since 1980 started with Jeetendra with films like Maqsad, Tohfa, Himmatwala.etc then here and there some films of Anil Kapoor however after Ghajini by genius Aamir, it got another high, followed by Salman in Wanted and then every film became like a south remake, same dialogue baazi, action wherein actors look straight out of south films, even our Akshay who had settled to comedy and romance after a break from action films took to south remakes with Rowdy Rathore and almost did a similar work in Khiladi 786. Boss comes after his superb Special 26 last year followed by the dud but better OUATIM. Boss is another south remake this time of Malyalam film Pokiri Raja with Manmoothy. BOSS starts off well with a slow motion entry of Danny in an action scene saved by Boss, Danny is named Big Boss.... Then we have the best character of the film Ronit Roy who is given a superb role after UDAAN again he is a villain however his character gets a beating in such a film, his scenes in the police station(however corny it may seem) or his face offs with Akshay are superb. In between we have young punks Shiv Pandit(Shaitan) and Aditi romancing on a rehash of Har Kisi Ko from Jaanbaaz song. Akshay makes his entry 30 minutes later and his character show spromise but ends up being just another South remake style role where he mouths longs dialogues, does his own mockery in between of action scenes. There is nothing really watchable in the film or anything new few scenes are well handled like the fight at the dargah or the fight between Ronit and Akshay in the end There are lot of stupidity scenes too like Mithun's character is not convincing, Also several scenes take the audience for grantedDirection by Anthony Dsouza is an improvement over BLUE but has a long way to go Music is okay, The title song sung by Meet Brothers Anjaan with rap by Yo YO Honey Singh is okay, The rehash of Har Kisi Ko is okay but lacks the edge of the original while the rehash of Apni Pode Pode is okay Akshay Kumar entertains but he is getting repetitive with such films Ronit Roy is superb in his negative role and doesn't overact like the others but he needs better films Danny is good, Shiv Pandit is okay, Aditi Roy Hydari has 3-4 scenes and is okay, Govind Namdeo hams and screams, Akash is okay Mithun is theatrical in his role, he should stop working in such films too, Johny Lever has some fun moments. There are cameos by Sonakshi Sinha, Prabhu Devaa(Akshay's regulars), Yo Yo Honey Singh, Shakti Kapoor.etc

Reviewed by: Dare Devil Kid (DDK) Rating: 3/5 starsHarmless fun. Thankfully the fun is not numbed down by being all too brainless - just the sporadic instance here and there, mostly interspersed within the action scenes. Akshay Kumar enjoys himself in a role he can sleep through and he succeeds in involving the audience in his revelry. We even get to see him doing some real action and stunts after a long time.Shiv Pandit just passes muster, while Aditi Rao Hydari literally has nothing to do. Sadly Mithun forgot his acting chops at home, and Danny's acting chops are criminally underutilized. But above all, the real scene stealer from the very first frame he enters till the last is Ronit Roy, who essays his first complete negative role with sublime malevolence.

I paid Rs.500 to watch #BOSS. I believe that's pretty much low for this. Perfect 8.5/10 Comedy + Action + Drama/Emotions !!!! = Complete Package. What I loved the most was the 'FATHER-SON' story. How Akshay as Boss kept his father in high esteems and believed him no less than a Lord, even though his father hated him. At some parts this movie was so emotional, SERIOUSLY !!! like a moment when the song 'Pitaah Se Hai Naam Tera' played - Boss peeks through the window of his mansion, Watches his father after 15 years & bursts into tear :') This movie was just so.... I love my father & I regard him more than anyone else. For me - my dad at one side and the entire world at the other !!! - " I am known due to my father, He's my identity , Supports me, My breathe...I've gotten from my #Father. He is a something else Got everything as his blessing, came with nothing to this world... He's Invaluable !!!! " - THE POSITION OF A FATHER IS THE HIGHEST. WE HOLD OUR FATHER's FINGER & EVERY PATH BECOMES EASIER. IF WE HAVE HIS BLESSINGS THEN SKY WILL BE AT OUR FEET. THEY ARE LIKE OUR LIFE SAVINGS, WE LOSE IT & WE HAVE NOTHING.
