Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

i gave this movie a 5/10/... simply because i didn't think it was that bad..it could have been a lot better.... the starting song was nice to watch with SK even though i think they got some of the moves from the beginning of a jams bond movie..... but as the movie started and got to the middle...it got boring and even more boring... the movie starts to pick up a lot more after the death of Esha Deol...ha ha she fell down a well!!!... then the twist at the end is what made me give it a 5/10... one reason why i didn't really like it was... there was only two songs at the start and the end... which killed it... because every movie needs music... i suppose its an 'ok' film to watch.... but just don't watch it more then once...

What can anyone say about Kaal? It has to be one of the best Hindi films I have ever seen. It starts off slow, but builds up becoming faster and faster and adding some plot twists and what not. The special effects enhance the movies, and the ending leaves you for a surprise! Shah Rukh Khan has done a great job producing the film, even tho is special appearance in the beginning was disappointing. The acting was phenomenal, and the words as well. A movie by which SRK produces, must be good and this movie lives up to the expectations. Even though it is not a musical, many Hindi film viewers will like the movie despite that fact. There is no doubt that Kaal is one of the best produced SRK movies. Two thumbs up should be given to the movie plus 9 stars out of 10.

I watched the 1st hour and just couldn't take anymore of this torture.Everything abt this movie stinks - Direction, Special Effects, Background score, Cinematography and especially THE ACTING!! Vivek's 'tough guy' act had me cracking up the entire time. "Cut the crap". Who in their right minds would think such a lame line could make anyone look cool or tough? Vivek's delivery only makes it worse. This Srk-wannabe needs to take a lengthy break. All of his performances post-Saathiya have stunk. Who decided to make him the guy with the 'attitude'? He's abt as intimidating as an ant in the 1st half. Can't believe how quickly his career has sunk after such a promising start. Moving on, John Abraham is probably the most expression-less actor I've seen in Bollywood. Should've stuck to modeling. The awkward looking guy who played 'Sajid' was even worse then those two....he talks like a girl. The Mickey Mouse dude('Mambo' from Ishq Vishq) seemed like the only one who could actually act. This sleeping pill deserves a 2/10. .5 each for the three sl*ts(Malaika, Esha & Lara) who did a decent job in the 2 songs. Esha and Lara also weren't too bad for a little comedy(albeit, unintentional comedy). So .5 for those two.

This is an ill-conceived, ill-written and ill-directed movie. The infrared shots of the jungle with background sound of crickets does't evoke any admiration for the grossly immature direction. Then there is the venerable Ajay Devgan as "Kali (Kali Prathap Singh to be precise-to let the viewers know that this reviewer has seen this film), walking out of the woods like Moses, with a bamboo pole (with Manish Malhotra not far behind!)-three tigers walk away with the tail between their legs! truly a jungle Film, there is even magic here. I can't believe a reputable banner like Dharma Productions would be remotely associated with this junk, However I can fully believe someone like Sharukh Khan would be behind this venture, since Junk Films are right up his alley.
