A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

If you know a bit about the popular German movies that were based on Karl May's works, you will also know that Austrian filmmaker Georg Marischka was not exactly one who worked on many of these adaptations, but had successes in entirely different areas of film. Maybe this is also one reason why "Das Vermächtnis des Inka" is nowhere near the most known Karl May works. Another may be the lack of Brice and Barker here. Of course, Madison, Battaglia, Rey and last but not least Heinz Erhardt were stars in their own right, but maybe this was not their best area of film in terms of the genre. Then again, I am not a fan of most of the other May films, so I may be biased here and it was not surprising that I found the film and the story extremely forgettable. It was probably more the writers' fault than the actors', but I am not sure if this refers to May or Marischka who also adapted the novel work. Overall, my verdict for "Legacy of the Incas" is negative. The only aspect, as usual, were the great landscapes and sets on some occasions, but this cannot make up for the deficits in many other areas. Watch something else instead.
