If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.
I love this film so much. I used to watch it when I was little - I was born in '86 - so much that my mother had to hide it from me. I don't know what she did with the tape, and it's a shame that we've lost it, because I hoped I would show it to my own children one day. It's such a feel-good movie, and it's so beautiful, because it shows how special a relationship with an animal can be, even one so great as a whale. It's also hilarious in parts - I still giggle whenever I think of the scene with the kids playing a prank on the tourists. It's such a sweet movie. The whole family can enjoy it, not just the kids - this is definitely a film to enjoy as a group.
