Despite his best efforts to begin a tranquil new life, he’s pulled back into a world of dangerous people and deadly situations, either through his friends in the local police department or running into people from his old life. When Alex’s friend from the local gym is found murdered, Alex investigates and discovers his friend was involved in an underground badminton competition. Alex and Ernesto must go undercover as badminton players to solve the murder, and in the process, end up exposing a drug smuggling ring.

When Alex entangles himself in a homicide investigation on behalf of his love interest, Ann Villegas, he is forced to befriend a geriatric couple with peculiar personality traits, coming to terms with the fact that life - and people - are often more complicated than they appear.
