At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

This movie is a refreshing departure from the usual fish-out-of water / Boy meets Girl fare. The sense of dissatisfaction that She experiences in her marriage is conveyed realistically. His loneliness and sense of persecution for being a Muslim in modern U.K. gives the story a contemporary and relevant angle. The courtly and erotic way in which he captures her heart as well as the use of verse injects the right amount of romance.Minor flaw: Since it is told in verse, some of the "fleshing out" of the relationships is missing.Bonus:Great shots of Cuba

How can anyone say that there is something worthwhile in this film? It came up on Encore and I decided to give it a try even though I had never heard of it. It is rare when I walk away from a movie, even if I'm not paying for it, but I couldn't watch this mess. This movie is trying to teach a lesson but comes across a preachy. The rhyming verse is distracting at best and annoying at worst. There is no story worth caring about, the characters create no interest in what they are doing or what may be going on around them. I found absolutely nothing of value in this movie. A waste of the 45 minutes that I gave this mess before giving up.

I grabbed Yes off the shelf at Hollywood Video because I am a fan of Joan Allen and Sam Neil. Both are terrific actors and I was on my phone and told my friend what I had just picked up and she told me to rent this movie and that it was very good. She's a huge fan of independent movies, and she said this was one of the best. This movie is basically a gigantic poem. And to be honest, this wasn't really my movie. I'm just not an independent movie fan. While the movie is extremely interesting and done pretty well. It was very depressing in some ways. Especially when He breaks things off with She and He explains why. I think everyone could understand his heart break. Especially after the 9/11 attacks, everything he said was true. So, if you are a poem lover or an independent film lover, I'd recommend it. But if you are just a regular film lover, you might want to stay away from it.5/10

'Yes' is terrible for sure. But you have to admire someone out there at least trying to be different. The movie's dialogue is in iambic pentameter as everyone knows by now (which is what interested me in renting it); and while I recognize the difficulty of creating such a screenplay, all too often it comes off sounding like Dr Suess. The main actors are 'good enough', but I could find no real 'fire' between the principles - their scenes seem forced. The music has no allure, and the supporting characters, while trying hard, still fall short of competence.Like I said, the effort is admirable, but the movie is just another bad bad indie...
