Breeders (1986)

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

"Breeders" is a poor-man's CHUD which was released two years before and is also about fantastic goings on in a subterranean environment. There are many differences in plot, however, and the following: the monsters in "Breeders" are terrible and the acting from all the players in "Breeders" is wooden and often dreadful; unlike the wonderfully entertaining "CHUDs" and good performances all round in that film.The Detective in "Breeders" looks too young to be convincing and the model industry seems to be thriving with beautiful young virgins; along with the hospital and indeed everywhere. One of them is a drug user who does acrobatics in the nude, another seems to do nothing but talk about men, and the rest (and the aforementioned) can't seem to wait to take their clothes off the moment they're alone.If I were in a bar there's no way I'd look at any of those ladies and think "Well, she'll be a virgin and I'll have to marry her to get her into bed", I'd just think "She's had better than me and she'll have better than me. I'm going home."I watched the film and thoroughly enjoyed it despite the unconvincing monsters, bad script and awful delivery of the script, the embarrassing amount of unnecessary nudity and a plot that seemed to be unconcerned with itself to the point of jumping about all over the place.The music was good (in my opinion) and I know that had the script had the proper tweaks and the film had better casting and better monsters, it could have generated a lot of tension.There were things that could have made the film genuinely intriguing and thrilling, but it just made me laugh and shake my head.

One of the worst films I've ever seen; truly horrible. I don't recommend watching this film at all. The rape of women by space aliens is both degrading and stupid. The women were covered in disgusting slime, and it's later revealed that the aliens must have only virgins to reproduce. As far as the aliens themselves, all you see is really bad, cheap-o FX. There are a few shadows of an alien profile, a latex monster arm/claw thingy, and an over-sized, bug-eyed, cheaply created alien head. The production is extremely bad and cheap, and the film was very poorly acted, even for a bad 80's horror film. The film director must've made porn films previously and was trying to go legit when he took on this script. Don't waste your time....seriously.

If that's what you're looking for, you'll find it in Breeders, a classic of oozy 80s video sleaze. Turning on its head the horror convention that sex means imminent death, the title creatures here target virgins only for their jollies. Luckily for them, New York City seems to be populated pretty plentifully with model-quality maidenheads.Director Tim Kincaid previously made gay pornographic films, but here displays a welcome and unashamed willingness to linger over the female form (just wait until you see the breeders' Alienesque love nest at the end, with several naked and moaning victims wallowing in white slime). Charmingly cheap as the monster effects are, and however shoddy the script might be, you have to give the people who made this credit for added production value in gourmet flesh - even if the alleged virginity of most of it is dubious.Breeders moves along at a fairly nice pace, doesn't overstay its welcome, and gives trash lovers what they want. Go in without overly high expectations and have fun with it, maybe as a solid second-rate second feature on a late night double bill with C.H.U.D. or Syngenor.

Thanks to the wonderful fast-frames feature Netflix provides for their streaming movies, you can watch this truly awful movie in about a minute and a half. Who would ever actually sit and watch this in real time? Or could? But clipping along at 16x, its actually kind of fun. Is there any purpose for making this movie other than showing blood-drenched naked chicks having sex? No, of course not. But it fulfills this rather well. So unless you get off on this (I don't), there's no point seeing it unless you just enjoy watching a truly awful movie (I do).So...imagine my joyful surprise when this incredibly hot super-hunk shows up wanting to play button, then rips off his leather jacket. Woof! 10 stars for the bare-chested Pat Rizzolino, billed as the intruder (and we were led to believe this was the safe part of the East Village!)Thanks, Mr. Gage!
