A gruesome homage to the cult Amicus anthology Asylum, Cradle of Fear unfolds four screamplays all linked by the unspeakable need of an incarcerated child killer to wreak vengeance on those responsible for his imprisonment. Helped by deranged angel Dani Filth, who leaves a trail of charnel house death in his crimson wake, the cannibal convict forces two Goth vamps to endure a one night stand from hell, two tough female robbers to see through each other, an obscenely rich coke-head to chop up more than a few lines and an internet surfer to descend into madness when he uncovers the ultimate web depravity.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Set in London, The Man intertwines four strangers' tales as they seek bloody revenge against others. While he's going around, a detective goes around trying to find an apparent connection to the killings that become associated with an incarcerated rapist. The Good Stor(ies): Story 1-Finding a slew of dead bodies, a detective recounts backward how the victims turned out. When several friends meet up at a Goth club, she takes a mysterious man home only to awake with a concerned state that she thinks is caused from their affair. Spending the night with her, she eventually learns she had been telling the truth all along. This one here is one of the best stories. The incredibly psychedelic imagery is pretty prevalent in here, especially the trippy and down-right freaky sex scene, as the strobe lights going off into the total darkness with the complete inability to notice what's going on. Coupled with the fine nudity and extremity with the actions and it really works. Even the later sequence where they're walking down the street having the usual demonic-faces-no-one-else-sees scene is a lot of fun, which here is hyper-extended for even more chills. The eruption sequence at the end is where it really works well, using a lot of impressive gore to make for some really bloody material. The creature is a little weakly-designed, but it's still pulled off well and is used inside an actually creepy scene, which is for the better.Story 3-Living together, a man and his girlfriend are forced to live with his amputated leg from an accident years back. After meeting with a mysterious doctor, he is able to get a new leg and is ready to begin life again. Going through the usual rehabilitation methods, he is finally able to take back control of where he was, and it soon starts to worry him when he begins having visions of it being taken from him while they're together. This one here plays up the tired cliché of most similar stories, where it might have a life on its own after being attached, but it happens so late that there's really only a few scenes where it occurs, and it's much less chilling when it happens a few times rather than all the time. The atmosphere that creates is really great and manages to make it more entertaining. There's a brutal car crash that has some nice gore to it, including a brutal ending to one of the passengers. The sex scene, for once, is played more erotically and sensual that usual, making it a welcome inclusion. The Bad Stor(ies): Story 2-Sneaking around London, a couple women decide to stop off at a friends' house before leaving. When they find that a stranger is instead sleeping in the house, in a brutal accident both end up killing them. Struck by the accident, they decide to cover it up before it gets out, but once their conscious turns on them, they both try to get out before succumbing to it. This one here is actually pretty decent, but it's mainly hurt by the fact that there's not much going on in it. Despite the nice scene of the girls taking a bath together, there's no other real scene in here that offers up anything interesting. The brutality assaults go on much longer than they should, the gore looks terrible and it really sticks out that there's nothing in here that was needed for it.Story 4-Working for a large company, an employee spends most of his time goofing around online, much to the detriment of his boss. As he decides to continue, he eventually finds a website that allows the visitor to actually kill a person through the internet. As he becomes devoted to the website, his personal life becomes trashed, and he soon discovers a price to pay for attending the site. This here is the greatest disappointment in the whole series, as it should've been great. The plot is great with the different stance on the voyeur offering a real psychological advantage. The gore is brutal, especially the over-the-top dismemberment scenes that play into the voyeur study, and a later massacre sequence where a whole slew of victims are hacked up quite messy and bloody. The segment, though, is just way too long and slow- going, taking way too long to get to the few interesting moments that are here. The CGI is also really terrible, and takes the viewer right out of the scene.Rated Unrated/NC-17: Extreme Graphic Violence, Full Nudity, Graphic Language, animal violence, a sex scene and drug use.

hey, OK first of all i'm rating this movie 8/10 because it's so much overlooked and despised, it's painful. i'm a huge fan of horror movies, and this one has a special place in my heart. i won't deny that i'm a cradle of filth groupie but the movie went so much far beyond my expectation. i can't reasonably consider it an extended music video, the horror here is social; when I first watched it, I was expecting a black metal imagery exhibition, but it's so much more than that... it's so much more than even a classic horror flick. it s a movie depicting every cardinal sins in a Edgar Poe novel way, but it surpasses this statement. you get the classical greed moral point of view, actually you ll get all you would have expected from a grand Guignol show, but the thing is this movie contains great, like awesome moments of acting, spontaneous gore, no one's feeling safe all around and it achieves it's goal; which at some point is delivering a Polansky like atmospheric level mixed with the joy of the first Peter Jackson movies - and not in the way you would have expected but in a book of shorts stories way. the more you get into the stories, the more you get sucked up into this introspective contemporary social horror. You re actually looking at one of the best reflective horror flicks of all time. OK, i know that i'm repetitive and kind of exited, but in my opinion Alex Chandon would have deserved at least more attentive viewers. i'm disappointed that most of the negative critics came from the cradle of filth fans, cause if satanic worshipers had a figurehead in cinema it would've been this one, in terms of ambiguous morals, screenplay troves, effectives special effects, aggressive story telling. f**k, watch this film, enjoy it, and pay some respects to this director. he deserves it way more than many others. it appears to be a B movie but is in fact a horrific deep journey into the human soul.

I love low budget cheap horror, however it get tiresome when the storyline is the same... this was completely different. I had no idea what was going on from one moment to the next, it kept me guessing and was really really graphic, I loved it... SPOILER COMING: the scene in the sick rooms could have been more gruesome, could have chose to sever a genital or a head as opposed to what he did choose but this was saved by the fact that the rest of the film was that gory, that i am quite ashamed I wanted more. Never the less, the film was really fun to watch with the demonic faces, the crazy beast baby, and the ending.... I loved it loads! Even though I'm not particularly a cradle of filth music fan or a Goth, there is no reason why you would not enjoy it, especially if you like a little nonsensical violence and blood.

Let me start off by saying that I love Cradle of Filth, and I am a big fan of Dani Filth. So, I was excited to see a film starring him, as well as CoF's music. That being said, the movie is bad. Very bad. It is a difficult film to watch due to bad scripting, bad acting and bad special effects. Off the bat, I want to give the film a 3 or a 2 even. But, I didn't. The reason for that is the very reason that kept me watching - to find out what happens and for more laughs. Also, they managed to find some very good-looking actresses willing to take off clothes. The movie kept me interested enough to carry on watching (not the story or script, just to see how people die), something that many big-budget films occasionally fail at. Other than that, I had a great laugh. Considering I watched it alone, it would be a great film to watch with some friends and a drink - assuming you are looking for a comedy involving splattering heads.I don't want my review to say that the movie is good. It isn't, at all. The point is that I am sure even the director and Dani (who had to work together, I assume) must have had their own laughs watching this, due to their very sick and hilarious brand of bloody humor.
