When aspiring horror filmmakers post an online casting call looking for "real life" monsters to interview for their upcoming documentary called, The Monster Project, they find three individuals claiming to be a skin-walker, a vampire, and a demon. Meeting these monsters at a remote mansion in the woods on the night of a total lunar eclipse, the filmmakers invite the three subjects to share their haunting, personal experiences. Working on the crew is a recovering drug addict who suffers withdrawal and paranoia. As a person of faith, he fears his friends underestimate the dark powers they are summoning. When the interviews turn deadly, he must battle the demons, inside and out, to escape the house and defeat the rise of evil incarnate.

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film

The premise: A couple of YouTubers making fake monster videos put out an ad to film and interview any REAL monsters in the area, without expecting to get exactly that. (The trailer gives all this away, so I'm not spoiling anything.)The premise is great, but there really isn't much of a story. I guess that's the way a lot of found footage movies are if they're done well - they feel spontaneous. This didn't. It felt scripted. The effects are great, and the performances of the people being interviewed are good, in my opinion. But the interviewing team's performances are terrible. A lot of overacting. And who ever heard of a cameraperson that won't shut up? Things get better as the movie progresses, but the beginning is very annoying. I think his character was supposed to be some sort of comic relief? The story was periodically derailed by unnecessary drama among the crew - which they filmed and included in their "monster documentary" for some unknown reason. The atmospheric sound effects and music were good, but WAY too heavy-handed and in some cases, just unnecessary.Loved the special effects and makeup! They were so good that I didn't understand why they pulled the camera away from the action or lit things so you could barely see them. There were enough close ups to see that they didn't need to.The ending caught me by surprise only because it seemed so inconsistent with the rest of the movie. It didn't make sense and felt like a last minute idea. If the rest of the movie would have supported the ending better, I think I may have liked the whole thing a lot more.If you watch the first 10 minutes or so, then skip to about a quarter of the way in, you might have a better experience. If I ever watch this again, that's what I plan to do.It's worth a watch, but this is too flawed to be called "good." It's just "okay." I'm being generous in giving it 6/10.

While the idea for the film is a good premise with loads of potential, the film becomes another one of the many average found footage films. The plot is simple enough, a documentary group sets out to make a film about monsters while they know they don't exist. When they finally get 3 supposed monsters to be in the documentary, they set up an interview at a creepy old house, but when they finish the interviews, the supposed monsters show their true form. The story unfortunately is just that, a good idea but they fail flesh out this story and it ends up being too thin. They try to add other story elements but they go by so quick and don't effect the rest of the film.First of all, the acting is very hit and miss, some of the actors do a serviceable job in their roles, but a couple of the actors are so ridiculous and over-done that it made wish they would just stop talking. The visuals also are hit and miss, while the make-up for the skinwalker is very cool, the special effects in other areas are very low quality, something you would see in a bargain bin at Walmart. The film also fails to set a tone like many other found footage films like Blair Witch Project, it just goes from scene to scene with no consistence, though the lighting is moody and effective at moments. The film also tries to be existential and though provoking regarding the ideas of good and evil, but the are cliched and has all been done before. So in short, the film is hit and miss, some very strong scenes and film elements, but unfortunately some very unflattering acting and special effects.

Summary (no spoilers)This movie is about a guy who is trying to recover from his drug addiction ends up with a job in a documentary crew to interview three subjects who claim to be real life monsters. My Review (no spoilers)The plot of this movie was made from a mixture of so many movies and an overload of monsters so I would give it a below average rating for the plot. I gave the movie an average rating just for the horror scenes. This movie did have those good scare factors. I usually love documentary movies. Now to talk about the acting I would give it an average rating. The ending of this movie was unpredictable and a little overly done. My RecommendationYes I would say to give it a shot just for the horror not the story. My Rating6/10

Lets start out that I'm not a big fan of the whole shaky camera filming everything movies. However...my wife showed me the trailer and the effects were actually decent. So we sat down with a couple of strong drinks...(Just in case we needed them to get through the movie) and watched it. Definitely had some creepy moments and for what it's worth, the acting wasn't completely terrible. It's the ending that threw me. The rest of the movie was fine and it looked like your typical horror movie ending. Don't worry...I don't do spoilers. Watch it and judge for yourself. For me...the ending just didn't fit. It wasn't needed and had basically nothing to do with the whole movie. Not a movie I'd watch more than once.
