I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet StreetMusical genre has always been the heart of a theatre play or act and not so much in a film except some exceptions probably because not everyone gets it right but this time it has arrived, the long last wait of the musical film that we all deserved. Sweeney Todd is the darkest project ever by Tim; that is saying a lot considering his history, and the best one too for the first time the movie gives enough work to the audience to mesmerize them. Tim Burton has matured himself as a director far better than probably anyone for his execution is dot perfect along with editing and also a more reasonable world to settle in. Johnny Depp as always gives his heart to Tim and this time he deserved this movie where every side of him is visible as clear as a crystal; he is a revelation in it with a great supporting cast like Alan Rickman. Sweeney Todd isn't goofy or even peculiar considering its premise but sharply to the point with smart writing, horrifying characters and sketchy tone that breeds the darkest phase in a human life with stellar performances.

Tim Burton and I have a rough past. I've admired some of his dark/quirky films that spark from the most creative of places (Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride), while I've thoroughly detested some of the others (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland). He's a director who's unique touch hasn't always hit the mark. But Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is a career high point. It is his bloodiest, darkest film to date and it is nearly his best. If you've noticed, my soft spot for musicals continues.. I honestly can't explain. Adapting from Steven Sondheim's genius Broadway creation, Sweeny Todd comes alive. Johnny Depp is electric. His performance here is tied with his portrayal of Hunter S. Thompson as his all-time best. He was born to sing, quite frankly. All of the others shine from Carter, to Cohen to the late Alan Rickman. The lyrics shake you to the core and the imagery shocks you as it cascades in blood. Sweeney Todd is a cut above the rest (rimshot).

I can honestly appreciate the sick beauty of the film, the pervert story of good people falling down a dark and twisted life style, its most definitely worth the watch and was very refreshing from the normal bright and sunny happy endings we typically favor. Despite the grim color setting and story line, it's an enjoyable film for those who possess a dark humour. I found that it took a while to get to the good parts but as Ms Lovett says, all good things happen to those who wait and it was the ending that took the prize with me. I must admit the singing wasn't terrific, to be honest it gave me a headache at times but Jonny Depp has some great moments where I was like ''Whoah, that was a nice note''The demon barber on fleet street might not be your typical watch, it sure wasn't mine, but if you give it a chance you just might be as pleasantly surprised as I was, I know I sure will be looking into films akin to this one. Yes, that's how much I liked it, and I'm not even that much of a movie person, I think this is my first review I've ever written. I enjoyed it that much!

Tim Burton. and Johnny Depp. and Helen Bonham Carter. a Gothic play from Broadway. and one of films who mix sarcasm, crime and crumbs from Count of Monte Cristo. result - a delightful discover of dark London, hilarious characters, songs and interesting performance of young Ed Sanders. a film like a strange dance. because, and Tim Burton does not exception in this case, the film has its rhythm and flavor and lights and shadows. Sweeny Todd by Depp not exactly a character from Brodway but a kind of Don Quijote . precise, full of desire of revenge, looking recuperate his past in large web of secrets. Helen Bonham Carter - perfect choice for a role who propose a sort of cynical pragmatism. short - a bitter delight.
