Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

Both Lost Boys sequels (The Tribe and The Thirst) seem to be pretty universally reviled, but they both have their charms. Where The Tribe took the (now standard) easy way out by simply doing a gender-swapped reboot of the first film, The Thirst is more ambitious and actually throws Corey Feldman's vampire hunter into an all new story, pitting him against Eurotrash raving vampires straight out of a Blade or Underworld movie. This is basically the same formula as the DTV Tremors sequels, except Michael Gross' Burt Gummer is a character with more room for complexity and Gross always found new ways to make him interesting. Feldman, (whose poor man's Will Arnett Growly Voice honestly got pretty annoying in the last movie), gets to be front and center for the first time, and he fortunately tones it down and tries to actually act for once (He actually has one legit touching scene involving the fate of Haim's character, but there's no way that couldn't be emotional). He's not a classic character like Blade or even Jack Burton, but he's passable enough. The story, which manages to squeeze in modern plot devices like the internet, raves, reality TV, and Twilight into a coherent plot, is actually pretty clever and has a decent twist near the end. Plus extra kudos for definitively ending the Trilogy (while of course, keeping the door open for a sequel). All in all, it's decent fun and worth a look for completionists (before the inevitable reboot happens.)

Lost Boys: The Thirst is the third and hopefully final instalment in the Lost Boys franchise. The film is definitely an improvement upon the the second film(The Tribe). The Thirst focuses on Edgar Frog(Corey Feldman) as he takes a job to find a worldwide rave, which is promoted by the head Vampire called DJ X, in the hopes of ending Vampires once and for all.The Thirst feels more of a legitimate sequel then The Tribe, which was essentially a rehash of the first film. Here the focus is put on Edgar Frog who has been in all three film films, and Feldman does a good job of hamming it up, and spouting more quips then Arnold Schwarzenegger. Whilst he and no other characters are given any semblance of depth, you can tell they are all having fun with the film. Going into the film with low expectations is the way to go. If you go in thinking it'll be a cheaply shot, poorly acted, generic vampire film, that only seems interested in finding fun ways to kill vampires, then that's exactly what you'll get. However there is a good time to be had with the film. This film is everything you'd expect when it comes to a film that is the third sequel in a horror series. The plot itself isn't too bad,the only issue's are that you're given absolutely zero characterisation for any of the human characters, and the vampires are given even less, they're literally there just too be killed off in cool ways. The film also has a plot twist that felt kind of silly, but over-all the script does a reasonable job of moving the story along, without it dragging to much.Lost Boys: The Thirst is a generic, straight to DVD horror, but it does enough with the script to end the series in a satisfying way, The film wraps itself up nicely without leaving any plot threads hanging. Whilst the film has a-lot of issues, at 80 minutes long it's briskly paced, and has enough fun moments that make the film worth a watch.

I must admit, my expectations weren't too high for this one after 'Lost Boys: The Tribe'. The film was entertaining for what it was, but it wasn't a "Lost Boys" movie for me. More of a modern update / remake that was marketed as some sort of sequel. Essentially it was like the first only not as good.'Lost Boys: The Thirst' is a whole different affair. It's very obvious from the get go that this is a movie for us FANS. With it's subtle reference of "Washington D.C......the other murder capital" within the first ten seconds of the flick. Here we have Edgar Frog, with a few problems. First off, we have his brother Alan "turned", and the fact that Edgar might also be losing his residence of living. Even worse for him is the fact that he's clearly grieving the loss of his friend Sam(Corey Haim RIP). So it's pretty safe to say all is not looking well for poor Edgar. But then comes a glimmer of hope in the form of an author of a series of books, who wants Edgar to help her get back her kidnapped brother from a group of vamps led by 'DJ X'. What's even funnier to me is that the author is clearly inspired by Stephanie Meyer(Of 'Twilight' awfulness). What follows is a very fun ride that is classic 'Lost Boys'. Lots of blood and a fair bit of humour. The lines just get funnier from Edgar. there is so many things I really liked about this one. For one, the plot was far better and even more surprising than I ever hoped. Of course there's a lot more to this flick but I don't want to give too much away. If you're a fan like I am then you should like / even love this one. One scene of note worth is Edgar's visit to Sam's grave. I was very surprised by it and it is a fitting tribute to Corey Haim. Even though Haim was technically still living when they filmed it, the fact that he died not longer after is a somewhat haunting thought in itself. Make time for it, it's a good sequel and it completely makes up for 'The Tribe'. I give it 9/10 for pure entertainment. It's not the best film ever, it does have it's flaws... but it's definitely better than 'Twilight' by miles. It's proof that real vampires(and vampire films)are still around at least.

I have to be honest, I didn't expect too much from the Thirst. Not only did the Thirst satisfy my Lost Boy needs it surpassed them. The Thirst moves quickly and fast and is full of action. The Frog Brothers are a huge part of the movie unlike the Tribe, Feldman and Newlander do a great job of taking me all the way back to my childhood and when I loved the Frog Brothers. The supporting cast is OK, there isn't really a David type of character that steals the show. However, what the writer/director and producer's do well here is listen to the fans wants and needs. We asked for more Feldman and Newlander, the Thirst has loads of that. Definitely worth a buy here! Good action, good special effects and feels like a big budget movie.
