There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Also, poor Nicholas Cage, I knew him well... Once upon a time (possibly in Las Vegas) he was a Box Office heavyweight. Now... well, you can probably pick up one of his latest films from those buckets you find of DVDs for £2.99 in petrol stations. However, before his decent into depressingly-bad cinema, he made some pretty fun films. Yes, he's won an Oscar in his time for his deep and meaningful acting, but you won't find any of that here. Just fun.Nicholas Cage plays (basically) Nicholas Cage – only a Nicholas Cage who used to steal expensive cars, only to retire. However, his loose cannon of a brother steals (or doesn't steal – I forget – it doesn't matter!) for (or from) the wrong mobster in L.A. meaning Nicholas Cage the now not-so retired car thief must steal a load of flash motors in one night or his brother ends up in the car crusher (literally!).If you like fast cars driving even faster (and, judging by the 'Fast and the Furious' franchise a lot of people do) then this one is basically for you. It's an action film and it's pretty much by the numbers, but, when it's such fun, who cares? Everyone cranks their performances up to eleven and it all comes across as one of those adorable eighties and nineties 'over-the-top' action flicks (yes, I know it was made it in 2000, but it sure feels like a nineties movie) with a real cartoony vibe to it. You have Christopher Ecleston plays the 'evil Brit villain' much like any other evil Brit villains you've seen in cinema. Vinnie Jones and Angelina Jolie are on hand to show their faces, but feel a little underused for what they could have been.Ultimately, it's all on Nicholas Cage's manic shoulders and he does the film proud. It's loud, dumb and it's basically one long car crash that you'll probably be unable to tear your eyes away from.

Overall: This movie is pretty good and I would recommend it.Good: The soundtrack is very well done as is the acting all around. The cars are fast, cool and the actual theft of the cars is well done. The action scenes, albeit in few supply, are decent for the most part.Bad: Despite having good performances, the villain's quite weak as are the more younger members of the crew. The final action scene with the main antagonist is pretty weak and anti-climactic.Best Part: The slick car escape with Nicholas Cage near the end during the final theft.7/10

60 seconds, 60 seconds, 60 seconds… you missed the point, really. This isn't about stars, characters, plot. The cars are your stars. I watched this version back to back with the original, and wow, there is really no comparison. This loose remake tried way too hard to re-think such a basic concept that didn't need so much re-thinking. The original was low-budget and high-speed, which worked. That's the movie it was. For this version to share a name with that version is akin to false advertising. This one was without a doubt low-speed and certain more high-budget than the original. Attempts at humor? Forced. Excitement about the illicit behavior of stealing cars? Not there. It is derivative, not of its source material, but of various other heist-style films, by trying to find suspense in the behind-the-scenes drama of who ordered the car thefts and why and what was going to happen if the team didn't come through. Whatever. Let's just get some cars on the road and see 'em wreck! Check the original for a movie that lives up to its premise. This one is a vehicle for anything other than cars. (Yes, that's deliberately pointing to irony that wasn't intended by the filmmakers.)

Here we go.Now I have been meaning to review this movie for some time now I'll do it while it may not be one of the best films ever made I'm one of those movie fans who looks past the junk and see the treasure. But this film is pretty fun to watch if you are into Cars like I am.The films centers around Memphis Raines (Nicolas Cage) trying to help his brother Kip Raines (Giovanni Ribisi) by coming out of retirement after he was a master car thief to steal 50 cars for Raymond Calitri (Christopher Eccleston) or Kip will be killed. With Detective Roland Castlebeck (Delroy Lindo) and his partner Detective Drycoff (Timothy Olyphant) So Memphis turns to his old friends Otto Halliwell (Robert Duvall), Donny Astricky (Chi McBride) The Sphinx (Vinnie Jones), Sara 'Sway' Wayland (Angelina Jolie) while Kip turns to his friends Mirror Man (T.J. Cross), Tumbler (Scott Caan) Freb (James Duval) Toby (William Lee Scott). Now the plot is interesting to make you want to watch the film if you are into cars and action films The film is written clearly to be a film about action and it does have those moments and they actually have some knowledge on the cars they used in the film which is actually surprising. And they pick some very good cars to use in the film. There are some tense moments in the film that make you go did they just do that ? you have to watch and see what happens in the film to know what I'm talking about. The film was done to please car and action fans it actually did well for a change. My advice is to check it out you might be reward for watching a film with good car stunts.I give Gone In Sixty Seconds a 8 out of 10
