It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

Ass-kicking abounds in this low-budget actioner from famed director Enzo G. Castellari, the guy they call the Italian John Woo! BRONX WARRIORS is a bizarre, post-apocalyptic mish-mash amalgamation of MAD MAX, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, and THE WARRIORS, and contains almost constant fighting and action to make it enjoyable for those who enjoy that kind of thing. With famed director Castellari controlling the shots, the fight scenes are invariably exciting and very well-staged on what is apparently a very low budget. The only thing this film misses is the ultra-cool slow-motion that Castellari sometimes brings to his movies (see KEOMA for a good example of this).Otherwise, the non-stop barrage of bloody violence, brutality, impalements and murder is filmed in a truly entertaining way by those good old exploitation-loving Italians! BRONX WARRIORS is cast with some top-quality low-rent movie stars and contains a cast of lovable but bizarre street characters. There's Trash's gang, the typical hard-leather motorbike-riding Hell's Angels; then a gang of Scavengers, who dress and look like screen zombies, and of course the padded hockey players who just look plain weird. Throw in some bizarre blaxploitation characters, a guy who resembles Jake "The Snake" Plissken in every way, and you have a way-cool movie! The only true "bad guys" in the film are headed by the late Vic Morrow as Hammer, a guy who chews the scenery with relish as a hired killer out for his own ends. Morrow, we salute your bravura, hard-as-nails performance! Then, of course, we have foreign-looking Mark Gregory (THUNDER) making his debut as screen hero and all-round good guy Trash, a muscular meathead of a man who looks pretty good as he goes around beating bad guys to death with some unconvincing displays of martial arts action! Imposing screen heavy George Eastman (BLASTFIGHTER) is on hand as Golan, a nasty piece of work by anyone's account. Betty Dessy is an S&M fan's dream as Witch, a whip-cracking dominatrix, and even old-timer Christopher Connelly (THE MINES OF KILIMANJARO) makes an appearance as techy geek Hot Dog! Finally, putting to shame all the rest of the cast, is blaxploitation legend Fred Williamson as Ogre, an inherently cool leader of men, who kicks ass aplenty. The film is rather episodic in feel but the pacing never flags. A then-modern rock score enlivens the proceedings and there is enough imagination and bizarre occurrences (love the drummer on the beach scene) to make any cult fan happy. The fiery climax to the film is pretty unusual and unexpected for a movie of this variety, even if the main thrust of the movie – gang heroes having to go through rival territory to fulfil their purpose – is stolen straight out of THE WARRIORS. However it's the fun atmosphere, non-stop violence and hysterical dialogue that makes BRONX WARRIORS such an entertaining movie. A sequel emerged two years later!

I love movies like this, it takes me back to the 80's when movies were good, and cheesy was even better than blockbusters. Always been a fan of these Italian b-horrors and b-action exploitation films. Here its in the future of 1990 in No mans land THE BRONX. The city is a scary place to be and ran by several gangs that all hate each other. Gangs like The Riders, The Tigers, The Zombies and The Scavengers and no cop would dare step fun in here. A rich girl sick of her life runs into the Bronx where the leader of the Riders, Trash, saves her and makes her his girl. The outsiders want her back and send in a real bada** to get the job done. He tried to set the gangs up and turn them against each other, and all Hell breaks lose in "No mans land".From the great opening credits shots to the famous gang/police war finale Dardano Sacchetti, the greatest writer ever, delivers. I loved the direction by Enzo Castellari and the wonderful music by Walt Rizzati. Just a beautiful package of post war b movie delight. The costumes were great and the motorcycles were cool with the skull lights on the front. It was a fun movie. Yea there were flaws, the city wasn't shut down so you can see heavy traffic in the background and even once a guy fishing during a gang meeting, but it doesn't matter this movie is still awesome. There was some good bloody scenes to make horror lovers enjoy this film as well. One scene was weird yet I loved it, it was when all the gang members pull up out in the middle of the deserted ruins of the city and yet there's a guy setting there with a drum set playing the entire time...funny as hell, i loved it. I also found little flaws like the fact they never had anyone on guard.Great acting here. Mark Greggory is one of my all time favorite actors, why that man wasn't a film superstar I don't know, hes good looking, built like a Greek god, could play any nationality you needed him to and just well centered when on camera. Vic Morrow played the bad guy Hammer, and he's another great 70's and 80's b-movie legend. Fred Williamson is a good guy and he's often hit or miss, and here it was mediocre at best on his acting. He didn't blow my mind as he has before. Chris Connely as Hot Dog, and George Eastman in a wonderful role and Golan...the cast was great.I love this film, it is for someone with an acquired taste. I love Mark Greggory, Sacchetti's work is do no wrong for me. Enzo direction is beautiful, his whole crew does good. I love Italian exploitation and the story was action packed at times and entertaining...It was however not perfect and slow at times, it was far from original and I can't completely lie and say it deserves more than 6 out of 10 stars.

The heiress of a major corporation(..called The Manhattan Corporation)decides to flee to the trash heap of Bronx, getting caught in the middle of a gang war as a hired ruthless cop, Hammer(Vic Morrow)is charged to get her. This heiress, Ann(..the lovely Stefania Girolami, daughter of the director)finds herself in the company of The Riders, whose leader Trash(Mark Gregory)keeps her safe. This endangers the group as Hammer will target them, attempting to pit The Riders against The Tigers, led by the formidable, highly regarded Ogre(Fred Williamson). Other gangs patrol their own areas attacking those who enter their territory, such as The Scavengers(..who look like rejects from The Stone Age)and The Zombies(..roller skating hoods with funny looking chest wear and white helmets). When Ann is kidnapped by the Zombies, Trash will gather two of volunteers in an attempt to ally his gang with Ogre's but must enter through other group's territory's in order to do so. Meanwhile we discover that within The Riders is a trader, Ice(Joshua Sinclair)who is working with Hammer and a diesel driving weapons supplier, Hot Dog(Christopher Connelly)who has been attempting to pit his gang against Ogre's so that chaos could ensue. The Bronx, no longer policed & left to rot and ruin, is a scar to the rest of the large city and seeing gangs warfare with each other doesn't bother those far from such violence. Hammer, born in Bronx, is a mercenary for hire who doesn't care about anyone and enjoys the role of killing people, particularly gang members. And, once Hammer discovers Ann's whereabouts, he gets Ice involved in negotiating her to Manhattan Corporation, but if Trash is able to join forces with Ogre, then such a plan will have complications.Obviously another Italian imitation of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK & THE WARRIORS, director Enzo G. Castellari attempts to keep the action front and center despite the many problems weighing against it..such as the absurd casting of Mark Gregory, without the look needed for the role of a tough leader of a motorcycle gang(..his uncomfortable walk and teenage face, not to mention his vacant delivery). The costumes and make-up for the gangs are modeled after THE WARRIORS, except in 1990, they aren't as effective as they are laughable. The hideous, crude, vulgar dialogue spoken throughout the movie by all the characters is a laugh riot to behold. The action set-pieces themselves, however, are entertaining and thrilling..lots of bodies being stabbed with plenty of hand to hand combat. Slick Vic the Hammer is a joy to watch, slippery in how he infiltrates the Bronx, blasting a couple with his shotgun. Williamson is allowed to kick some ass as Ogre, always cool, with a cigar, bright blue shirt and shiny jeans, with a cane that has a sword(..he gets to chop a head off with it)as his weapon. Perhaps the show-stopping set-piece is Williamson in battle with gargantuan George Eastman(..as the pony-tailed leader of the Zombies)to the death. Gregory never convinces as the hero, so it's up to Williamson to pick up the slack..although, Gregory does have an effectively emotional moment where his Trash discovers a friend, damaged and dying after being attacked by the Scavengers. Betty Dessy is actually quite effective as Ogre's companion, Witch, a tall, long-haired blond who can wield a mean whip, with sharp steel claws(..applied to her fingers) that buries into the torsos of enemies like blades. Hammer and a heavily armed task force plan to besiege Ogre's fortress with all manner of hell breaking loose(..including blow torches assaulting victim's faces and machine guns dropping running gang members). Before the film ends, nearly everyone is dead. The ruins of Rome serve the setting of a fallen Bronx quite well. The film is pure testosterone. See this for the action choreography, because 1990:BRONX WARRIORS is a pure trash epic without a hint of originality.

I have seen this movie from Showtime around the same year he died in 1982 and the Italians didn't even keep his voice in the movie ! I can't believe they would just dub out his voice with some cheap imitation because this was one of the last movies Vic Morrow made before he died. I rated this a 2 because I can't say it's awful because Vic is in it. The acting STINGS and everything else is the same junk you saw from the Italians in the 1980's. One point though, the World Trade Centers are shown a few times in the background so that might be worth seeing it for. If you want to see a boring two hours then I recommend it, otherwise just skip it.
