It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

This movie is really good and funny. The realisator has managed to do humor on serious subject. With this way he honored the second war world memories. This movie helps to understand the war with no fear. Furthermore the game actor is amazing, they are really performing and they do not take themselves seriously. On the other hand, the humor is a little bit heavy. Finally it's a good movie to see in family for a relaxation time. So I've loved this movie.

Just a precision about La grande vadrouille. This movie was during a long time the most successful movie in France with 17 millions of people who saw it in cinemas until ... Titanic of course. More than 20 millions persons saw the movie of Cameron in France, which is an incredible record.About the movie, we can say that it's one of the best comedy ever made in France. Gerard Oury, the director of La grande Vadrouille, is a specialist of this kind of movies. He worked again with Louis de Funes and Bourvil during the movie Le Corniaud which is, like La Grande Vadrouille, a classic of the french comedies. One of those movies that you can watch again and again, with the same pleasure.

In my opinion, nothing can top the De Funes' films "Jo" and "Oscar" as far as sheer comedic brilliance, but this one is a true delight. One of the funniest scenes in any movie is when Bourvil and De Funes arrive at a hotel where they are supposed to meet their friends who will help them get safe passage to the southern free zone in France. They enter a darkened hotel eating area and they see lighted candles in the distance. Someone switches on the light and they find themselves in the midst of about three dozen German soldiers celebrating their General's birthday. The hotel owner and a young woman pretend that Bourvil and De Funes are their husbands and give them a dressing down for being late for their chores. But the German General says that women should not wear the pants and he invites them to join his party. Bourvil and De Funes, exhausted from their day long trek through the French countryside must join in a chair dance, where all the German soldiers play horsie on their chairs in single file around the tables. De Funes looks like an old man about to keel over as he rides his chair among the Germans. It's wonderfully funny.

After several years of searching, I have found the French version of the movie "La Grande Vadrouille". I can't count the times I have seen this movie. So I could remember every actors' speech. To my thought, many information lost when it was translated into Chinese. The French version tells more than the history. China is getting more and more international. But what is international, no one can explain clearly. A group of people tells us a story, in English, French and German. To communicate with more people, we should learn more. To build the real market, China should do many things. For example, the language environment. And China must obey the international rules. It will be a long way, before China became a member of the international family.
