I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.

Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

OK, so we understand that "Camelot" is probably not the most accurate depiction of King Arthur (whoever he was). But I'd say that the important thing is that the movie shows how Arthur rejects the idea of might making right - basically a call for peace - and has a round table to treat all as equals. I should admit that while watching it, I kept imagining lines the characters suddenly blurting out lines from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero (best known as the original Django; he appeared in "Django Unchained" as the Italian guest who knows that the D is silent) were an item for a number of years before getting married in 2006. Their son later directed Redgrave in a TV adaptation of Wallace Shawn's politically charged play "The Fever", co-starring Michael Moore and Angelina Jolie.Anyway, "Camelot" is worth seeing. I guess that the overall gist is to enjoy what you have, since it might not always be there. So yes, what is the average airspeed velocity of a swallow?

I fear that nothing will ever be adequate as a remake after having seen the Original Cast on Broadway. The scene where Lancelot (Robert Goulet) rides in to save Guinevere (Julie Andrews) while Arthur (Richard Burton) stands singing on a platform above the stage is one of the most thrilling I have witnessed on the stage...it brings tears to my eye just to remember it! I have nothing against any of the film cast; but compared with the performances of Burton, Andrews, and Goulet...well, they just don't compare. Makes one wish that recordings had been made of certain Broadway performances!

This is a fantastic adaptation of the King Arthur legends. Being a musical it focuses more on the tragic love between Lancelot and Guenevere/Philosophy of the Knights and isn't heavy on magic. It has gorgeous sets and is overall beautiful. The songs can be sometimes cheesy and even silly like in any musical, but it all kind of fits. It's also funny like the scene where Arthur tries to explain Civil Law to Pellinore, and dramatically powerful when Arthur monologues to Excalibur.. Richard Harris is absolutely fantastic as Arthur!

Redgrave does a fine job but her character is despicable from start to finish so it's hard to say much good about her performance because she sells it so well. Nero is much the same, Lancelot goes from unlikable to dastardly. Both have great and very telling songs, though. In addition, Lancelot has a scene where he speaks to what it's like to be a fanatic that is incredibly succinct and yet profound. As for Harris, well, he's never been more engaging. You can't help but like and feel for Arthur. But can he sing? I've always thought so and so did many others when his pop song, "MacArthur Park", went to #2 in the US. This has an outstanding cast, fantastic tunes AND the magic is in how funny someone's personal tragedy can be. The music, Harris' charisma and Lancelot's comments on fanaticism make this one of my favorite movies. I've been watching it for four decades and can still watch it every couple of years.
