Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

if i wanted a full days worth of theater 101 learning id watch a 1 percent of this movie and then take another beginners class of theater in my community college for a day. the rest of this story is dull and the worst part is it leaves a bad taste in your mouth at the end. this movie has no point to it at all but to make the watchers blood pressure go up for how stupid this movie was i really want my hour and a half back. Keanu should really stick to action movies he has as much character in his acting as an Iguana. if you like watching good movies skip this one . the female actor in this movie is the only one who did a good job at acting she was giving off the villain you love to hate or slap lol

Since I didn't read very much about it before I saw this film, I was pleasantly surprised. They pulled off a play within a movie. It was dark and funny and real and unreal. I love how they played with a classic piece of drama. What exactly is Henry's Crime? His real crime is not the obvious answer. Many of us are committing this crime every day of our lives. The movie has not been promoted enough. I Live in Buffalo and I just kept forgetting to see it. Keanu Reeves plays his character perfectly and you do see a slow change or awakening in the 'affable' Henry. James Caan has definitely 'still got it' and was acting circles around everyone else, but he is a master. Vera Farmiga is a delight and a very real person, she reminds me of a lot of my friends. A lot of people that live here might say that Buffalo was portrayed as 'too gray', well, it is gray in the winter. If there were a word for more gray, I would use it to describe Buffalo in November. One scene takes place in a Chinese restaurant just a few blocks from my house. It is beautiful inside, I wish they had shown more of it in the movie. I had Christmas dinner there with family just a few hours ago, maybe that's what prompted me to watch this film tonight. The ending is different, some reviewers didn't like it, it does feel improvised, but somehow matching perfectly the non-improvised portions of the temperamental director taking down the lights. I would definitely watch it again, it's the kind of movie where you will see things you missed the first time.

There is a saying in Greece that states "All the money". You say that about things or people, when you think that they alone are worth watching a movie alone. In this particular case, I'm talking about James Caan. Keanu does his usual shtick and Vera is there, but not in a "Up" kind of way.The story itself is nothing to get too excited about (for most people that is), but James Caan gives the whole thing gravitas (and the occasional much needed comic relief). Although some would call Keanus acting constant comedy, that would not be a nice thing to say. Still, the charisma of a lead looks different in my book. Light comedy, neither too bad, nor too good.
