This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Slowest movie ever made. Won't classify as a slow burn because it never got lit. Stupid me made it even slower by rewinding points in the film to try to figure out what possible relevance/progression minutes of the film had contributed. Came up empty every time. Here's a great description in Wikipedia of the final ~10 minutes of the movie (and remember 'slow burn' movies which just about every other review mentions is a flaw really need to make use of those final scenes to make the film...relevant): "Josh calls Harmon in tears to tell him that Dena is dead. Harmon tells Josh to disappear and never contact him again. Josh destroys his phone, then drives to a camping supplies store, where he applies for a job." Awesome. And Night moves officially beats out The Greasy Strangler for making a film with no purpose whatsoever. Only difference between those two films is that at least The Greasy Strangler tries to waste your time with wtf comedic devices and uncomfortable visuals whereas Night moves just wastes your time. (Cheese license...dam has no benefits why? I mean I'm guessing the film wanted to send a pro environmental message out right? well putting in a line about why dams can be bad for environments would have been nice...have sex w a guy you just met and dislike and distrust...80s wild times guy...Oh and also what does the name of the film mean? Sorry if I'm missing something obvious but Im not seeing it. I mean its the same name of a '75 film that has absolutely no connection. Another name couldnt be created? Was it just that perfect of a title that you had to reuse another films name? What a disaster.

Night Moves is a slow burner. A plodding film with many a lingering shot, padded scenes and still a lot that is left unsaid.Three environmental activists plan to blow up a dam. Now there are a lot of benefits in having a dam but building one can create chaos, sometimes whole towns or villages have to be relocated. Of course to an environmentalist, dams can also lead to unnecessary wastage of precious natural resources.Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning appear to be a couple but she is a rich kid along for the ride and to make a point. They work in some gardening co-op.Peter Sarsgaard plays the accomplice who comes up with the mechanics of the scheme to blow up the dam. Although there is some antagonism between Fanning and him we later hear them seemingly have sex. After the explosion, consciences are not eased as an innocent camper is killed and Fanning keeps contacting Sarsgaard putting the trio at risk of being caught. Now earlier in the film we have scene with a pregnant deer which might explain what later happens. Was Fanning pregnant by Sarsgaard and this was the reason she was contacting him. When Sarsgaard informed Eisenberg about Fanning's phone calls, did he on purpose fail to give the whole picture on the basis that he assumes that Eisenberg will properly deal with a supposed loose cannon like Fanning? The film does not tell you all this. You have to read the forum pages on IMDb. Therefore the director does not spell out the plot but he also fails to entertain you.

I had never heard of this film, and now I know why. There's not much I can say that's good about this movie, I thought when I picked it up and read that it was a thriller, that I'd be on the edge of my seat, but I wasn't. I think that the fact that they didn't give you enough time to get invested in the characters or give you a reason behind why they were doing what they were doing, did not help either. I felt that this movie was slow and that I just didn't feel anything for the situation they were going through. I felt like my money was wasted in the film and frankly, I haven't felt this way since I watched "get shorty." So in the end, I would have to say, if you are wanting to see a thriller, don't see this movie, because I feel that you would be greatly disappointed. And I was hoping for a lot more from Dakota fanning and Jessie eisenberg, both who are good actors in their own right, just not in this.
