From the makers of The Last Exorcism comes a boldly original vision of horror. What if the most chilling novel of all time was actually based on a true account of a horrific experiment gone awry? When he is suspended from his university job for his outlandish ideas, Professor John Venkenheim leads a documentary film crew to the rim of the Arctic Circle in a desperate effort to vindicate his academic reputation. His theory: Mary Shelley's ghastly story, "Frankenstein," is, in fact, a work of non-fiction disguised as fantasy. In the vast, frozen wilderness, Venkenheim and his team search for the legendary monster, a creature mired in mystery and drenched in blood. What they find is an unspeakable truth more terrifying than any fiction...a nightmare from which there is no waking.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

The Curse of the Blair Witch continues, with once again, an implausible concept of Found Footage of a horrifying event. The plot is that a descendant of an 18th century scientist leads a badly equipped badly planned expedition to Northern Canada to find Frankenstein's monster, who he claims his ancestor created. Faster than you can say "Public Domain", the characters are picked off one by one in fits of bad acting. The goofiness of these kinds of movies is that they would keep cameras rolling when all this horrific stuff is going on. "Hey, my friends are being killed all around me by an improbable supernatural force! I'd better keep filming. Oh, wait, I'm the only one left? I'd better set my camera up on a tripod so that it can capture my tragic yet entirely predictable demise!" they do a good job of keeping the Monster out of frame so you can't see how cheap and generally unimpressive it is. Oh, and for the reviewer who says you had to have read Mary Shelly's original work to truly appreciate it? Not really. I have, that really didn't add anything to it because Frankie just turns out to be another boring Found Footage Monster killing people for the sake of killing them. There's just nothing special about him.

worse than lair witch project! THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT was done by high schoolers.. and the stupid movie was written by a dreamer! its good to 'dream' about stuff, but if u're putting it on the big screen, please put it in prospective. coz you've just wasted ur money on the cheap script, crap actors and really wasted a trip to the arctic. Frankenstein, being a fictional character that has been fascinating to the audiences for over the century, i really think he deserves more credits that you have given him. luckily, i found this in my local library... i don't think this movie even made it to the big screen in NZ. really not worth paying for it. I wonder how much were made at the box office?

This movie is definitely not as bad as some people want to make us believe. Even though I'm not a huge fan of camcorder movies this one is certainly not the worst I ever saw. The only problem I have is that they call it a horror movie while it isn't at all. But other then that I enjoyed The Frankenstein Theory. I thought the actors were okay and the story was not bad at all. There are some nice nature shots as well so all in all this movie deserves much better then its low ratings. Too bad they didn't show the Frankenstein monster more or even better made him a bit scarier. But I guess with a low budget this is the best we can expect. Certainly worth a watch to me.

First thing to say is that I was attracted to this movie by the premise; that Frankenstein's monster is real! The idea of tracking down old Frankie in modern day times and what it meant was fascinating to me, however the delivery was somewhat of a disappointment. In fairness, I cannot criticise the acting, it was pretty good (especially Murphy's character) though I would say that our protagonist played by Chris Lemche, I personally felt was a little young for the watcher to take him seriously as a university professor. I also felt the cinematography was very good.My final point is that there was a lot of potential for the story that to my mind, wasn't even thought about; at the end of the day you could replace Frankenstein with any 'mythical' monster and it would have worked just as well. In that respect, I find the movie quite disappointing.A lot of reviews have scored this movie a lower than I think it deserves, there are (by far) much worse movies out there and whilst this one doesn't set the world on fire, I can think of worse ways of spending 87 minutes!
