The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Braydon (Sky Elobar) is socially dysfunctional in an extreme "Napoleon Dynamite" way. He lives with his dad Big Ronnie (Michael St. Michaels) who is the Greasy Strangler due to his diet. The guys spend most of the day sitting around the house in their underwear and socks, or less. For support they dress up in pink garb and give disco tours, making up things on the fly. Janet (Elizabeth De Razzo) is on the first tour. She is attracted to Braydon, and then Ronnie. The film is designed to be a campy cult film. I doubt if it reaches cult status. The full frontal fake genital nudity, the Greasy Strangler in a car wash, saying bulls**t artist and general grease humor got old and stale very fast. It is juvenile humor.Guide: F-word, sex, nudity...and none of it was pretty. Need I say, "not for everyone?"

Absolutely loved this movie. At the time of watching I hadn't heard much about it except it was highly rated by empire magazine. So when I watched it late at night in the dark thinking I was about to see a horror/slasher movie, I was a bit taken back when I realised it was a comedy I was watching!, And maybe it was because I was expecting a completely different type of movie but I was taken by surprise how funny it was. Now I completely understand why people don't like it, in fact I've recommended it to so many people some of which blatantly refuse to watch it and others who have, and of those who have I don't know any who did like it! It certainly is not for everyone, but for those who enjoy there humour off the wall and lines you'll be able to quote for years to come, give it a chance. And by the way after RE checking empire magazine, the movie won empires comedy of the year!!!!

To trap 'The Greasy Strangler' in words would do a disservice to its oddness. I watched it only with the description that "it's about a guy who covers himself in grease and strangles people". And that's all you need to know to enjoy it. That description would fit a horror movie; the best description I could come up with is an Absurdist Drama. But the genre is unimportant, like I say all description is unimportant, just watch. Most movies that begin and build on elements of weirdness can't sustain this vibe. The unnatural characters, the random plot developments, the sublime atmosphere of the world within, it becomes boring when the shock wears off. The Greasy Strangler sustains this weirdness the entire run time. And viewed without any inspection as to what it might all mean, it's still a very enjoyable movie. I'd say there's something deeper going on here too, not a moral message or anything, but it's a movie about family, about fathers and sons. Well, no, about one very specific very weird father-son duo. It's all there in the background and whether you want to look for it or not I'd recommend giving The Greasy Strangler a watch.

This film is so brilliant. It was so random and felt genuine. It is such a breath of fresh air away from the political manufactured Hollywood movies. I think the actors were so good at their roles. The director used them at their full potential. Thank you so much for making it. A true classic I will always come back to!
