I'm a fan of various Hanna Barbera cartoons as well as certain live action adaptations of cartoon shows. However, I can easily say that this is awful beyond recognition for many reasons: the story is extremely weak, the characters are utterly nothing, the humor is weak and nothing to run home about, the dialogue is horrendous, there's nothing really that special about this film, a lot of the dialogue is laughable, there are way too many characters that aren't that memorable (except Yogi, Boo-Boo and Ranger Smith) and worst of all, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera died before this film was even thought of. I sat in the theater in total disbelief and I couldn't believe that this even greenlit. I know that there are fans of this film, but I totally disagree. The only thing that I'll give credit to is that Justin Timberlake and Dan Aykroyd are fine as our main characters. That's the only positive thing I can say about it.

Yogi Bear (2010): Dir: Eric Brevig / Cast: Tom Cavenagh, Anna Faris, Andrew Daly / Voices: Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake: Here is an example of computer generated images taking charge while plot and story becomes threadbare. It is also based on a classic Hannah Barbara cartoon that deserves better cinematic respect than this. Computer generated family film about the bear with abilities like no other. Jellystone park is threatened when the corrupt Mayor decides to use its destruction for political gain. Ranger Smith must come up with a solution while dealing with Yogi Bear's picnic basket stealing ways. Directed by Eric Brevig with splendid computer graphic images of Yogi and his pal Boo Boo. Unfortunately the screenplay would make better bear dropping pickup. Dan Aykroyd voices Yogi and Justin Timberlake voices Boo Boo and despite their efforts they cannot save the disastrous script. The plot is conventional and dull thus leaving our two bears with little to do. It gets to the point where viewers will likely wish a six pack was in one of those baskets just to cure the nonsense. Anna Faris shows up as a wildlife preserver. After her great comedic performance in Observe and Report what a waste her talent is here. Tom Cavenagh plays Ranger Smith who is a love lorn total cardboard along with his dimwitted employee. The evil Mayor takes the prize as most embarrassing spectacle in the entire film. He is played by Andrew Daly who should have wished that his role was animated so that he not been shamed on screen. Celebrated cartoon subdued in idiot plot. Score: 5 / 10

Although it stays true to the source. I am not sure exactly how much research was put into this appalling movie. The fact that one of the key major parts of this is the endangered "Burping frog turtle". Is in fact a Tortoise shows the quality of of this movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6ocwXC3UYw If you haven't seen the turtle yourself. Did no one at all in the whole of the making of this movie ever realize this or point it out. its not like its an easy mistake.Maybe our good friend parry can explain it to them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zptb9PlHiJc Turtle -- A large marine reptile families Cheloniidae and Dermochelyidae) with a bony or leathery shell and flippers

When reviewing a family movie, I look at it a few different ways: first, is it appropriate for my three kids; second, is it entertaining to me and my kids; and third, is there a decent storyline. I didn't see Yogi Bear in theaters and I am glad I didn't spend money, for a family of five, on tickets and concession items that go with taking my family to a big screen showing. However, I think this is one of the more appropriate and enjoyable family movies that I have seen in years. Yogi made me laugh and it was just long enough to keep my kids attention for the entire movie. The story line is basic and not to deep, which helps to keep the kids' attention. As a dad, I appreciate not having to explain everything to them and am able to enjoy the movie myself. I thought Dan Aykroyd's voice work on Yogi was over acted and made to sound like the cartoon I grew up on, but after a few scenes you get used to it. Justin Timberlake, as you would expect him to be, was funny voicing Boo Boo. Tom Cavanagh, as the abused Ranger Smith, was a clean cut likable character similar to the character he portrayed on the T.V. show ED, on which he starred. Anna Faris's part although limited, fit in the movie's overall context. T.J Miller, Nathan Corddry and Andrew Daly were entertaining fodder to Yogi's antics.I watched this movie with my kids and I can't remember a part where at least one of them was not laughing. To me, that's all you can ask for in a family movie; no swearing, no violence, just good old fashioned Yogi Bear Fun. This is a movie that I will be buying for the collection.Grade: A+visit our site at www.twodudereview.com
