I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Got the main elements of a classic western in its story, with a aura of lunacy and insanity in the central characters, and a good plot to watch. Thought it would be pure cliché and bad shot, but it was actually pretty good. Maybe you can say its a Predictable plot, but not exactly a cliché, and resolved, not like most of movies nowadays in which directors seem too proud to end the story in the way that the expectator wants it to end, so it's not and ending in which you turn off the TV pissd off.Ed Harris is pretty funny actually, and i'm not usually a big fan of him. Lucius malfoy is doing what he does best, chilly evil son of a gun. The lady doesn't talk much, her acting is good, and the character is coherent. just found myself with thumbs up, like 'there you go, woman!"

Ed Harris is brilliant, January Jones is wonderful and Jason Isaacs made me hate him.Other reviews will summarize this better than I can but if you like quirky characters, a good screenplay and an odd but honest story you can't go wrong with this.Terrific acting. A movie that that captures the pathos of a world ruled by lawlessness and the cultism of some religious groups. No justice, no fairness and no honor. There's a bit of humor in this and Ed Harris brings to life a character that captures a rebellious , yet compassionate spirit of someone disgusted by the weakness of humanity and yet still willing to do the right thing. See 41:07 for a bit of this.January Jones is perfect. Beautiful, tough and cold in her treatment of those around her that have made her life miserable. She doesn't exactly rise above it, but she deals with it in a way that makes you want her to win out.Isaacs makes you hate him. Really hate him. A shining example of the fanatical, crazy religious lunatic that makes you want to put a bullet in his head. Maybe two or three bullets. If you like westerns, watch it , it is way better than most.

Movie average movie, with the mixture of religion, action.I liked - 1) The cast. 2) Direction. 3) dialogs.Not-so-much-liked - 1) Every next scene is predictable. 2) Action is very simple… it should have been little more thriller. The script is not that good. This is a revenge based movie where in initially the villain is violent powerful but suddenly he becomes worthless and easy pray in that hands of actress. There seems to be more than 10 shootouts, all of them were like a child's play with a toy gun.One can watch this movie if you don't have much options.

Every good revenge thriller needs a decent villain, and Sweetwater (known as Sweet Vengeance here in good ol' England) has a great one: a thoroughly despicable, corrupt preacher who uses the cover of his profession to get away with a multitude of sins: including murder, sexual abuse, stealing... the list goes on. It's difficult to know what version of the Good Book he's studying, since I'm quite sure there are no passages advocating racism, prostitution or lying either. If he was born nowadays, he'd likely be confined to an asylum for the rest of his sorry days. But since this was the God fearing 19th century, he's seen as a pillar of the community, and is allowed to get away with his wanton criminality.Fortunately, a new sheriff has just rode in, and doesn't fall for the alleged man of the cloth's film-flammery. You see, the preacher's men have unwittingly killed two friends of his, and he wants to find out the cause of their disappearance. Meanwhile, the insane religious nutjob has got designs on a redhead farmer AND her land... and is prepared to go to any methods to grab what he believes should be rightfully his. Including of course, disposing of her Mexican husband. Unfortunately, after destroying her life, he awakens in her a monster. Let's just say Charles Bronson is about to have some competition for the highest body count...And as the predictable slaughter gets underway, you can hardly help but get involved as this irredeemable bible basher, along with his uncouth gang of reprobates, are annihilated by our wronged lady in ways which can only be described as thoroughly deserved. There has been so many contemptible things done by these miscreants up till now, that maximum satisfaction is guaranteed as they're blown to smithereens. January Jones is a marvel as the feisty focal point of the movie, and Ed Harris with Jason Isaacs offer invaluable support as the unshakeable lawman and the eminently hissable bad guy, respectably.Number one with a bullet. 6/10
