It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

This film is like one of those Hallmark gems with top tier actors that never got the big box office recognition or reviews. It's one of those films where the actors appear to really enjoy what they're doing instead of just laboring for another paycheck. The cinematography is superb! Helen Hunt sparkles; Scarlett Johansson shines; Tom Wilkinson is splendid, as usual. Nice to see Johansson and Wilkinson working together again after "Girl With A Pearl Earring" And you have to love Oscar Wilde's work with his witty and clever storytelling. The screenplay is very nicely done. This film is just first rate entertainment. Period.

While retaining her secret identity, the illustrious Mrs. Erlynne (Hunt) saves Lady Windemere (Johansson) from making a grand social faux-pas with the scoundrelly Lord Darlington (Moore). My expectations were a bit low on this because I am still warming up to Helen Hunt. All those years of "Mad About You" never convinced me, but I am starting to have second thoughts. This film is a notch above her usual stuff.Although I am not familiar with the Oscar Wilde play, I am quite pleased with this adaptation. It is moving, with decent twists and turns. There are also more than a handful of quotable lines, which I presume are Wilde's creations. They come across as timeless.

This is a hugely entertaining film bursting with class.Set in the high society of the 1930's, we follow the adventures of a 'sophisticate' who now seeks her fortune from the rich and famous in the Italien Riviera.Super locations, lovely costumes and an engrossing tale beautifully scripted and performed. Indeed the dialogue is so good it sometimes seems like it comes out of a book of quotations! All the actors are outstanding and the lead female is iconic and sensual. This movie had me absorbed from start to finish and all in all is worthy of at least:8/10.

A highly visual and verbal film. Lovely costumes and scenery. Helen Hunt plays a wonderful role as the *wanton* woman. I particularly liked her in this movie. The supporting actors/actresses brought a lot of realism to their roles and that made it a pleasure to watch. Personally, Being use to more dramatic and intense themes, my only negative remark is that the plot seemed to be a bit placid...I could see potential in some places to add a bit more to the storyline. But I think the film succeeded in conveying an easy to follow, uncomplicated look at life and love of that era, as I am sure it was intended to do and written that way. All in all a pleasure to watch and I recommend it to those viewers that like simplistic style, highly absorbing dialogue, and pleasing visual stimulation.
