I first seen this, when I ordered it from my library, and I have to say this movie is good. And I was relived it was, because you know, the movie trailer makes it look good and I was glad it was. Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Ll Cool J and Justin Timerlake among others were good in this gritty cop action-thriller.As I understand it, this story is set up were the town is called Edison and it is corrupted as hell, especially with the police.Justin Timberlake is honestly good in this, as a reporter who uncovers a conspiracy about the town of Edison police. Morgan Freeman plays his boss who helps him, but they are both in danger once they try to challenge the police corruption. Kevin Spacey plays Morgan's friend who is one of the only cops in Edison who is not evilly corrupted, and also helps along with Ll Cool J's Character who is also an honest cop as he try's to tear down their empire.I don't want to spoil anything because there are twists and I don't want to ruin it, but they are cool, and the movie gets pretty action packed toward the end which I will not spoil.Overall a pretty good action-thriller that is worth seeing, a good cast, pretty good twists and some cool action but mostly at the end.I give it a 7/10. I highly recommend it.

So this one day, my father decides to rent out this movie from the local movie store. Upon seeing the cover, I begin having doubts about the movie, but with nothing better to do, I decide to watch it.The opening scene with the bank robbery got me hooked. I began liking the trigger happy cop played by McDermott and his good cop partner played by LL Cool J (aka Todd Smith). The movie, it seemed, had a promising start, but all that starts well doesn't always end well. As the story progresses, it becomes apparent that McDermott's character is not only psychopathic, but also unscrupulous and corrupt. And somebody, outside of the police, takes notice of this. During the trial of an innocent man, who has been framed by the McDermott and Todd Smith - involuntarily by Smith; just so we are clear - the two men come to the attention of a young, aspiring reporter. This young, fiery man is none other than Justin Timberlake. Timberlake figures there is something wrong with the trial and decides to embark on a journalistic mission to uncover the truth behind it - mainly due to the urging of his boss, Morgan Freeman, who also plays his mentor and edifies him on the very principals of good journalism. Along the way, Spacey (another good cop), decides to join in on this mission and it starts becoming clearer that the division that employs Smith and McDermott, FRAT is actually a nefarious paramilitary force, with a hidden agenda. Even Smith, being continually attacked by his conscience, decides to help Timberlake uncover some very nasty truths. The movie, which isn't exactly flawless, actually manages to be decent and even shows potential to be good, but the ending is what really results in its undoing. Seriously, if the movie could be made 10 minutes shorter or the ending is drastically altered, I have no doubt that it would actually receive some acclaim from critics. Overall, the acting by the cast is good and script is well written, but like I mentioned above, the ending is what really kills it.

This movie has some interesting things in common with a certain Tom Cruise film. That film, entitled Minority Report, is about a huge police agency that is supposed to prevent crime from happening. Here, its a special agency that patrols a city with a certain brand of martial law. Not entirely similar, but enough to recognize.Timberlake gives enough of a performance to show he isn't just a music performer. His pairing with Morgan Freeman was alright, but I thought they didn't compliment each other enough. Plus, Freeman seems withdrawn for much of the movie and didn't provide enough of a backdrop on him.The ending was predictable to me and the tactics were common in these movies. It was an old formula with descent results. So have a go at it if you must. But remember that Timberlake likes the ladies. "C+"

Edison City is home to .F.R.A.T.; a elite group of officers who bring down the drug dealers of Edison; only the power they have been given turns them all into corrupt officers. Except for LL Cool J.Cool meets JT during a court case and soon JT is convinced about .F.R.A.T. corruption and uncovers a city wide conspiracy with terrifying consequences.LL Cool J plays the role of the man battling his conscience and gives a good performance while Justin does a good job as a young reporter.Kevin Spacey is always a bonus when he plays any type of role, while Morgan Freeman does a good job as the reporters boss. The film picks up towards the end; but watching this film I kept thinking, this would be great as a TV show.A good film with a promising cast. The reason I gave it a seven because a lot of people will dismiss this film because of the two leads, Justin Timberlake and LL Cool J; singer and rapper turned actors, both both do hold their own against screen veterans.
