Love Me If You Dare (2003)
As adults, best friends Julien and Sophie continue the odd game they started as children -- a fearless competition to outdo one another with daring and outrageous stunts. While they often act out to relieve one another's pain, their game might be a way to avoid the fact that they are truly meant for one another.

Memorable, crazy movie
It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
How this could get good reviews is beyond me. I give it two stars, because I could stand to make it all the way through. One star if I can't even finish a movie.Everyone goes through some trauma and loss in their lives; that is a terrible club we all eventually belong. That is not an excuse to become in essence: self-centered at best, and sociopathic at worst. Just because the protagonists were like this from childhood to adulthood and performed this kind of shame and outrage on each other as well as all the people they encountered throughout their lives did not make for a romantic movie for me. Both of the protagonists are crass and destructive towards anyone and everyone - whether they are strangers, or family, or spouses, or each other. This is not a comedic love story in my estimation. After the first 30 minutes, I was ready to quit on this movie, but wanted to keep an open mind and made it to the end. It had a lot of good reviews, but count me out.It reminded me more of Thelma and Louise than Amelie. I've seen French movies, and it's no Amelie. It's not even close to Thelma and Louise either.
it is what you want. a modern fairy tale, expression of the Peter Pan syndrome, a game, a preservation form of time in the skin of an only age. but, more important, it is a revelation. about the lead actors and the chemistry between themes, about the director and his admirable art to define the small details light, for the story itself , seductive, cruel, touching, naive, lovely. a film about friendship. or a homage to the friendship. important is the state of viewer after the end of final credits. that state is the authentic proof of the special form of magic of this beautiful film.
I do appreciate the work of the crew, really a great work but after this movie I did decide not to watch a French movie again.I tried to watch several times but I couldn't. At last I achieved to complete the movie;what I got? The proof of the phrase: -What is more boring than a French movie? -A longer French movie. I think I won't watch a French movie for a long time.It was just a wast of time for me.To the people who cares these reviews you don't miss anything,it was a total torture to be patient till the end of the movie that I did it myself in 39 years of my life What is more boring than a French movie? A longer French movie. :)
Thus, a typical European artistic film... Directing and photography are OK, actors are good, the rather artificial plot has some interesting twists - but it is not the film giving you background thoughts or that you would like to see again later. The characters are no role models either, besides, such types of persons would never "grow up" or have children... It seems that the makers wanted to create something very different and quaint, so much non-Hollywood, that they somehow forgot about an average audience. But the world is full of sophisticated films for only a few thousands of happy viewers...5 points from me as I did not expect much either, the result was even slightly better than I expected... And the film is not lengthy.
