Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
I get it... it wasn't a bad movie. I don't understand what the race thing had to do with the plot unless it was there to make you feel like you were the late 50's. The movie was missing something and I just can't put my finger on it.... it has a lot of potential. Wasn't a complete waste of time watching it but I understand the negative reviews.
I love Matt Damon's work. Clooney's, too. But this one hurts. The plot is: Man (and woman) kills wife to be with woman. Simple, right? But, the sub-plot, if you wish to call it that is: Another family is ruthlessly attacked by a racist community. Now, what is annoying is NOT that we were duped into watching this documentary on racism in America, but, that this sub-plot has absolutely NOTHING to do with the main plot. These are two totally different movies, forced into one, and we keep hoping that eventually that they will merge--but they never do. Sure, the boys get together in the end, but, really, by then, it's too late to call this "sub-plot" anything BUT unnecessary.
So let's unpack this satire; -greed, check -racism, check -narsicism, check -capitalism, check -lust, check -hate, check -naivity, check -simplicity, check -apathy, check -disavowal, check -irony, check -stupidity, check -whatever the hell bury your head in the sand and pretend it never happened is, checkMaybe this is the 7 deadly sins enhanced edition a 50's setting.I think they were trying to tick all the boxes and show that things never change, look it is the same right now today, maybe it will never change, the end.Seeing it once is enough but if you want to see it again just watch the news or read if that is still a thing.
Suburbicon overall seemed to have been a film in which came and went. The trailers showed a very odd sense which is not much surprise as to why the film was a complete box office flop.Matt Damon does well in his role as an everyday man, one who is hiding many secrets. While Julianne Moore is great in her dual role as wheelchair-bound Rose and Stepford wife wannabe Margaret, who is in love with her brother-in-law. Though with a very short screen time, Oscar Isaac steals the show as the insurance agent investigating Rose's death.Overall, Suburbicon isn't too intriguing though it does get slightly more intriguing once the darkness occurs (as in murders) when everything comes out. Still majority of the film is a missfire and just not worth the complete watch.
