Young urban couple Ed and Sarah are set to begin a new life when they move from London into an isolated borders Scottish farmhouse. After falling in love with the 19th century Castle Farm and seeing its potential as a fixer-upper they are anxious to get started on the renovations. In bed on their first night Sarah thinks she can hear noises in the darkness but Ed is disbelieving saying it’s her imagination playing tricks. Persisting in her fear they are not alone in the house, she forces Ed to investigate. When he doesn’t return after a scarily long period, she goes downstairs to investigate only to be confronted by a welcoming committee of masked intruders. As she desperately searches for Ed, a terrifying game of cat and mouse ensues with the mysterious assailants. But what do they want and what horrors do they have planned for the two newcomers?

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

First of all, there is nothing original or exciting about this film, it starts out decently, but is extremely obvious what is going to happen next after the first couple of minutes. You can already see the events before they have happened, which is always a sign of unwitty film-making. The couple is not really likeable, so it is hard to feel any suspense or thrill while they are getting chased by the crazy scottish folk. The film really is an over exagaration of the hate between these two nations, i do not believe people would be ready to kill just to get a newly moved in couple of an abandoned house up for sale, seems a bit too daft. What it comes down to is just a normal chase movie, where the main characters try to escape and fight off the bad guys, nothing original, do not recommend this movie, although it had some great views and a couple of ok moments it is still not worth watching overall as it is quite boring, regardless of the relatively short runtime!

Reasonably interesting at first.becomes predictable.dies at the death. bizzare, and underwhelming ending.unlikable characters. some fun moments...mostly when the end credits role. I won't waste anymore time with this as its already had nearly 2 hours of my life :). Too add....Many people are reviewing this movie as "racist" It is not...... it's a MOVIE.... A MOVIE. ffs.

Despite the reviews on here, and due to the absolute dearth of decent films on Netflix, I decided to give this one a go. And you know what? Those reviews are spot on..The plot of this film has been done so many times before, and in almost every case done so much better. Couple alone in the back of beyond hunted by pyscopaths - Deliverance has a lot to answer for. There is virtually no character development so, crucially one doesn't really feel connected to the hunted - it's just a pointless exercise in sadism. The horror genre sadly has been twisted over the last few decades into an excuse simply to spill as much blood in the most gruesome of ways. The premise for the attacks on the English couple who have made the worst mistake of their lives in moving to the wilds of Scotland to live a simpler life is that the locals don't want them there. Put bluntly, this film is racist and an insult to the people of Scotland (and in case your wondering, I'm an Englishman). The final scene in which the young boy is depicted in his Scotland football shirt whilst wearing a pig mask is particularly abhorrent. I deplore the writers and makers of this film for their insulting and obnoxious depiction of a fine country. Finally, this film must have the worst and most unbelievable ending I have ever seen. Are we really supposed to believe that a group of men will hunt a couple of people all night through the woods; catch them, seriously injure them, then drive to and dump them in the middle of Manchester before driving back to Scotland to hold a barbecue in the couples house??!!This film should be avoided at all costs!! Stuff the IMDb rating - I give it 0/10Thanks for reading

With Easter coming up,I started looking for a Horror flick to give to a pal as a gift. Reading an old issue of Empire,I found a review for a horror "inspired" by the Scottish Independence Referendum!,this led to me following the settlers. The plot:Leaving behind their London lives, two Southern Softies go "Oop North" via crossing The Wall and entering the documentary Game of Thrones. Relaxing in their new cosy home, the Softies hear the sound of The Wildings outside, who all say "Take that Jimmie!" and give each of them a special Glasgow Kiss.View on the film:Taking 8 years to reach the screen (!) the screenplay by Ian Fenton boils a lean haggis Horror of the couple getting trapped in a hillbilly backwoods chiller. While Fenton disappointingly keeps the anti- English one liners trim, the wee lambs get finely grilled with Fenton giving a Slasher-style resolution to the backwoods attack. Gathering a low budget, director Simeon Halligan & cinematographer James Swift track down a creepy atmosphere,as Halligan lights the backwoods in torches that offers brief glimpses of the deranged strangers. Joined by a richly smug Lee Williams as Ed, Pollyanna McIntosh gives a great performance as Sarah, whose screams McIntosh uses to show Sarah fighting tooth and nail to survive this indy ref on the Southern Softies.
