Fresh and Exciting

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Sure, this movie is cheesy and predictable. You know exactly what will happen after the first 10 minutes. So what? It makes me smile and it sometimes even makes me cry. I've seen this movie at least 3 or 4 times and it never gets old. Molly and Ray are both flawed, but that's what makes them so lovable. Their backgrounds are both extremely sad, but you eventually get a happy ending. Maybe I'm a sucker for feel-good, heartwarming movies but this truly a wonderful movie. If you are looking for something new and original, then this isn't the movie for you, but if you want something that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you with a smile and a happy feeling then go watch it! I promise you won't regret. Oh, and as a side note, I really enjoy the song "Molly Smiles".

I liked what another reviewer said elsewhere that these kind of movies usually do follow a similar line. However "Uptown Girls" had some refreshing angles. A believable story always makes for more interest as far as we are concerned. It has so much content that can be accepted as REAL LIFE, situations.We both like Dakota Fanning have seen her in a few movies including one with Denzil Washington when he plays her "Nanny" in Mexico. Film was called "Man on Fire" I think.I also agree with the other reviewer in their comment that Dakota Fanning really does hold her own in this film. Ray: Its a harsh world.In my humble opinion the only reason that this film didn't get the acclaim it deserved was because adults wrote it off as a 'kids' movie and the kids didn't understand the emotional plot line.Molly Gunn (Brittany Murphy) is a woman who's rock and roll parents died when she was very young, leaving her with enough money so that she would never have to mature past the age she was when her parents left her. Ray Schlein (Dakota Fanning) is a spoilt brat who's mother ignores her and who's father is comatose. Consequently she has evolved prematurely into an uptight, adult-like child who fears germs, mess and most importantly, fun.So when Molly and Rays worlds collide, they accidentally begin teaching each other how to act their ages. But when Rays life begins to take the same tragic turn as Mollys did, Mollys forced to act like a 'grown up' for the fist time in her life. This movie is a real tear jerker. I dare anyone not to watch it and feel they haven't gained something from it. Don't believe the people who hate it, its a fantastic movie and yes; its a chick-flick but that Doesn't make it terrible!The ending is just...beautiful.

Time will tell you will Dakota Fanning become a famous ,and ,or good,well know actress,but i think Brittany Murphy plays well she's role,but do not show more than earlier.Script:weak,some life smell ,but sunshine situation. Directing:I feel like now we can not talking about it.There are some reasons why the creators had to made this film,if you can understand,you will be glad !Against the story is not too difficult,but loosing emotions-this was the big mistake.If you reading this comment before seen the film ,you will find it better.But if you reading this comment after seen the film ,maybe you will agree with me.Maybe the DVD was better idea to see again,but this news will take your attention:the director produced the horror movie:Hostel.
