Sparks (2013)

Perfect cast and a good story

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Blistering performances.

Ian Sparks (Chase Williamson) joins with mutants to avenge the death of his parents. He discovers that not everyone is honest in this age of vigilante super heroes. The complex plot takes some nice twists in this comic book adventure set in 1948.The film reminded me a little of the Warren Beatty "Dick Tracy" film. I would say if you couldn't stomach those sets, skip this one.Parental Guide: No f-bombs. No nudity. Sex scenes and prostitution theme.

mix it with Sin City, and then throw in a little Casablanca for good measure? Hopefully something sparks. And in this particular case—you do indeed get Sparks. The film had everything going for it: an amazing cast, awesome special effects, great story with nice twist and turns, tragedy and redemption. Sparks has become my new 2013 favorite. Folino and the others did an outstanding job with this super hero thriller that I believe to be filmmaking's rare gem. Sparks can not be compared to other super-films because It's To Damn Good! Take the badassness of Sin City,the coolness of Spider-Man Noir, the grit of Watchmen,sprinkle in the powers of the X-Men and you're still only half way to Sparks.

Folino has constructed a faithful adaptation of his book with a stellar cast of indie darlings and ended up with what could well become a cult film for superhero fans. Also, Sparks Is Engaging And A Visually Fulfilling Independent Film. In today's world of $50 to $150 million plus budget films, even the ones with the smallest casts, there comes a film once in a while - on a low budget – that comes out with a sharp sense of style, intrigue and uniqueness that while watching the film, you know there was a lot of heart and passion that was put into making it. "Sparks" is definitely one of those films.

Don't have much to say: bad acting, bad story, bad dialogs, bad costumes, bad everything. It's not making an elephant out of a fly but it really is the worst movie I have ever seen. The lead actor acts like a child in kindergarten, I haven't even payed attention to other actors because this one was more than enough for me. Costumes are legendary, I supposed they have to look amateur made but this is really, really...I'm speechless. Also we have a fake Bane in this movie, with some Mistyque powers. Overall this movie looks like bad student's project. One thing that can save this 'project' is if it has been made for making fun. I don't know what else to say. Just watch it and you'll see.
