Invasion of Astro-Monster, also called Godzilla vs. Monster Zero, not a bad Godzilla film at all. It gets kinda redundant that this film goes back to back with Ghidrah, the three headed monster, so twice in a row we have Godzilla and Rodan fighting Ghidorah. The only difference is the setting. This also was the only Godzilla film in which two monsters from earth are on another planet, and it also includes the famous Godzilla "dancing scene". The plot is a bit cliche and has been used in various other Godzilla films which were made afterwards, a mysterious race wants to befriend mankind, but in reality they want only to destroy us. Overall it's a neat little film for a Saturday night alone. The plot, at times seems to drag a little, but it's certainly more watchable than some other films I have reviewed.

For Those that are Unaware. Godzilla is a Rock Star. The Monster/Dinosaur/Reptile, Always Played by a Man in a Rubber Suit Until CGI, is a Hands-Off Movie Icon that is Fiercely Protected by His Devoted and Fanatical Godzilla Groupies and is Beyond Criticism. This Japanese Juggernaut, You See, Can Do No Wrong.Defining or Deciphering the Appeal Might Take Some Serious Psychoanalysis, but Suffice to Say After the Big Guy Made His Debut in 1954 the Endless Stream of Kid-Friendly, Low-Budget, Laugh-Fests Never Stopped. But it Seems You Can Only Laugh at These Things in a "Club-Card" Kind of Way. If You are Not a Member of the Love-Fest for the Franchise Beware and Make Sure You Smile and Don't Smirk.Truth be Told, Despite the Protective Barrier Surrounding the Great Number of Films in the Pantheon, the Movies are Vulnerable on Most Levels Other than Absolutely Pure Camp and Kindergarten Kinetics. The SFX are Wild but Repetitive. If You've Seen One You've Seen Them All. The Monsters in the Series are Interchangeable with Guest Stars, Cameos, and Fluctuate Between Being Heroes and Villains Depending on the Entry. This One Incorporates Space Travel with Visiting Aliens, Space Ships, Some Cool Flying Saucers, Intersolar Travel. and American Cult Actor Nick Adams. Three TOHO Monsters Show Up, Godzilla, Rodan and Ghidorah. It's Got a Deeper Plot Than Most with More Emphasis on the Space Stuff than the Monster Mash. Overall, Slightly Above Average for a Godzilla Movie, Famous for the Godzilla Victory Jig and the Ali-Shuffle.

"Did he kill Rodan and Godzilla?" "He couldn't! They're too tough!"That's a small sample of the many memorable lines from this very watchable (and re-watchable) Japanese monster classic. Whether the dialog was written corny intentionally, or was a result of translation flaws; some of the lines are of the "you've got to hear it to believe it" variety. It's from the era when Godzilla and Rodan were no longer mindless automatons that wrecked Tokyo just for the fun of it, but now heroic rubber-suited good guys that do good stuff. There's hostile aliens, plotting spies, the Japanese army, astronauts, and a pretty femme fatale.Planet X, a planet populated by people who all wear sunglasses, seeks help from us. They have a bad monster, you see, called Monster Zero (AKA King Ghidara) who wrecks stuff. They want Godzilla and Rodan to beat him up. After they do this and Godzilla is doing jumping-jacks to celebrate, Planet X launches an attack to conquer and colonize Earth.Lots of camp factor. You won't believe the secret weapon the humans find, and what its power is. The scene where two guys use it to escape aliens is hilarious. Look for the reaction of the guard that Nick Adams grabs. Adams, astronaut, is the lone American helping the Japanese save Earth, and he hams it up with some great speeches and good old overacting. The big monsters have two well choreographed fights, and the evil characters are as fun as the good guys with weird lines. Spies were all the rage in 60's movies, and you'll fund them here."We have found a love beyond all computations!" lol, one of my favorite movie lines ever.

If you are looking for the video, it it known as Godzilla vs. Monster Zero.Monster Zero is actually Ghiddorah: The Three Headed Monster, but they use numbers on Planet X. It is alway fascinating to see the depiction of space men and space vehicles in an earlier age.Never trust space aliens as they have ulterior motives. They use Goidzilla, Monster Zero and Rodan to attack Earth for it's water. But, they never counted on one of their "machines" falling in love and revealing their weakness.Lots of action, but mainly at the end.
