The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

While driving , the pregnant horror-movie actress Kyôko Harase and her fiancé are in a car crash caused by the Toshio's friend. Kyôko loses her baby and her fiancé winds up in a coma. Kyôko was cursed together with a television crew when they shot a show in the haunted house where Kayako was brutally murdered by her husband years ago. Ju-On 2 manages to be even worse than the previous film but also even more boring and stupid than the original was and that's kinda easy i guess with this type of franchise and movies. See it only if you enjoyed the first.

I loved JU-ON: THE GRUDGE so I was looking forward to watching this sequel, which I heard was just as good as the original. What a surprise I had! Instead of being as 'good' as the first, this film actually surpasses it, turning out to be the scariest, most effective Japanese horror film I've yet to see! This sequel takes off where the last film ended as a new bunch of characters find themselves haunted by the ever-frightening ghosts of the first film in this series. Of course, it's business as usual for a Japanese horror film, with young, attractive actresses scared out of their wits by bizarre encounters and strange happenings; there's little music and no action, just strong dialogue interspersed with some absolutely terrifying set piece showdowns between humans and spirits. The cast is uniformly excellent – I can't recall any missteps and each and every character did a convincing portrayal of somebody suffering from a ghostly manifestation. What I liked best was the pacing: although it's slow by Hollywood standards, there are regular 'scare' scenes, each of them more imaginative than in the first movie. Highlights include a reprise of the first film's classic 'staircase' climax; some spookiness going on in a car at the film's opening; an absolutely fantastic bit with living hair taking over a ceiling, and ghosts coming out of the floor as well as other, more incredible places (but I won't spoil anything). The absolute best bit for me is the bit with the wig in the closet, which I found scarier than anything else I can remember watching in the last five years – and I've watched a lot of horror films in that time, believe me! Special effects are top notch and there's some CGI usage in a couple of places which doesn't detract, just adding to the weirdness instead, and there's plenty of plot twists that'll make you scratch your head and wonder – predictable Hollywood fare this isn't! If you're looking for a genuine horror film to send a shiver down your spine then JU-ON: THE GRUDGE 2 is it; but I wouldn't recommend it for people who are easily scared. They're not likely to last the film's duration...

So, let me begin by saying I am not a Grudge fan. Well, OK, I am not a fan of the American Grudge versions. Those versions might have had better film quality, but certainly have less entertainment value. Really, giving birth to a new grudge? That was a neat little trick to keep it all going. But the American one only offers cat noises and flashbacks.I found it interesting that the thud sounds were sounds from the future (in an eerie way). But most of all, I liked how this Grudge doesn't waste too much time with the stupid throat sound. Yes kind of creepy, but stupid. However, the kills were nice. I wish these directors did the American versions. "C+"

~Spoiler~ Takashi Shimizu's Ju-on 2 is another series of vignettes following the vengeful ghost, Kayako, and her lovable son, Toshio. This time around, however, I had a much harder time following the deconstructive narrative. There are so many characters this time and the disjointed story really does nothing but to confuse the viewer. If I did not know that abrupt changes in time was Shimizu's style, I would have been infinitely more dumbfounded. The main story of Ju-on 2 is about a television camera crew investigating haunted houses that eventually go into the dreaded house with a grudge. Needless to say this does not end well for anyone. This plot is pretty much what I expected in the sequel. But, there is a subplot about a pregnant woman that gets very bizarre and another one about a girl that never even went into the house, only dreams about it. I can't say that I enjoyed those particular stories. There are enough eerie moments here to keep J-horror fans satisfied, but don't expect the story to come together perfectly. It's not the same cohesive package that the first film was. With that said, Ju-on 2 showcases a few decent scares and not much else.
