There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

Here is a film I really found unjustly criticized. Deadfall is a lot of fun, though a lot of people won't share my opinion. In the art of the con, father and son, team (Coburn, who double stars here) and Biehn, are the best. When the con backfires and Coburn is killed, Biehn makes a fatherly promise to track down his Uncle (a slicker white haired Coburn) and retrieve some stolen valuables. It's here that Biehn, meets some particular weird types, none weirder of course than movie stealer, Cage, in a great, purposely overacted performance, that's deserves some acting award- may'be great overacting. He's hilarious. His beautiful girlfriend (Back for Revenge's Sarah Trigger) is not all she seems, as are many others, and it's great to see her get her gear off. You'll never see the big pay off in the end, the ultimate con, which kind of really have bad repercussions for one party. There are some surprisingly take note, memorable, performances, in particular, that of Charlie Sheen, as a dark menacing figure, who spouts lines from Mark Twain novels, a fantastic pool player you don't want to cross. The other notable performance is that of Peter Fonda, as one of Uncle's Coburn's bodyguards, who you wish you saw more of him in this, he's that good. But of course it's Cage's scenes, that you're gonna love, especially if you're a Nic Cage fan. I like the fact, Deadfall chooses to be something different, an off the wall crime caper, with characters of insanity, the only sane being Biehn, who really didn't really exude himself enough. Or was he 'spose to play it down pat? He just didn't really do it for me, just being upstage by some classic acting performances. His sane character is an amusing contrast to the others. We even have one guy who would put Edward Scissorhands to shame. There so many things that make this film fun, but I know the main reason for watching it again: Cage.

Watching this movie was a surreal experience to say the least, not even close to David Lynch's surrealism in movies but it all strangely works. The Directing is non existent, the dialogue is a homage to film noir while being a parody to film noir, the acting ranges from flat, to decent, to so over the top you wonder if the director was even on set, or anyone for that matter and the story is held together with duct tape and glue and implodes at the films unbelievable grand finale. I get this movie is garbage and the only reason anyone would see it is for a memorable Nicolas Cage performance but somehow and I'm not sure how but apart from the lifeless narration, the tacky villain towards the end who looks like a James Bond reject and the ending that makes no sense it just kinda works. Apart from the action scenes the cinematography is descent, the music while a bit cheesy makes the movie more eerie, the acting from all the main cast is good, and the cons where we'll done as well. While watching it I did want to know what was going to happen next and where it was going even if the ending was garbage and the dialogue while goofy at times just kinda comes together to give this strange little movie that's full of suspense just acting much as it is full of laughs I'd it's worth a watch at least once whether you're a Nick Cage nut or just interested in a strange little movies it's worth checking out to make you're own opinion about it.

i have been a Nick Cage fan for a long time and love how he has so many personalities when it comes to getting in character. my roommate had this flick in his DVD collection and i watched it and it was pretty cool, not the best thing ever but i was surprised that i had never seen it since it was a film that Nicholas Cage appeared in. the film was directed by Christopher Coppola, Nick's relative, which i did not know previously, but that might explain why Nick Cage was let loose as far as being a wild card while doing his character Eddy, probably because he had more freedom to do what he wanted since this was not a mega-movie like a Jerry Bruckheimer movie etc.....Michael Biehn is good in it as well, he acts similar to how he usually is in movies such as his most well known character in Terminator, but it works. James Coburn is in it and plays a good part for the type of actor he is, its cool that he can be in such eccentric little films such as this one even though he has done so much in film in his life already.this film has a little mystery, a little dark eccentric humor, some thugs, and mostly set at nighttime, but Nicholas Cage's character is the most memorable one because he plays a high-strung, over the edge guy and he really gets into character, because his voice is different, he has a fake moustache, cheap haircut, sunglasses and weird eyes, it is such an eccentric character that he put out there which i love.there is one particular moment i recall that was funny in an eccentric way, he was in a strip club and he was all strung-out and drinking or on drugs and he was messing with the stripper on stage and then on his way out he throws a drink on a random stranger and then proceeds to stand in the middle of the whole place with his arms raised and yells "F**K YOOOOUUUUUUUU !!!!!!! and then on his way out the door he snaps and does a karate-chop, kung-fu move on some guy for no reason at all and kicks the living crap out of him,hahaha,.................(btw, just from me being a little too observant, i noticed that in that scene when he yells the "F" word, i noticed there is a guy sitting at a table behind him with a black t-shirt with bold white letters saying the same thing, (F*** Y**), and i just thought it was weird that they did that.its just an OK movie to watch if your a Nicholas Cage fan and like dark humor and indy type films or mysteries and thats that.

There is only one great thing about this movie, but this makes it all worth watching: Nicolas Cage as Eddie! This is truly his ultimate character. When you see Cage in action, you will truly realize that he is the greatest and coolest actor EVER. The way he affects the film by just being there is just so impressive. Still, the plot is nothing special, and the rest of the cast is only fair. (This is no reason to avoid it) Deadfall proves that Cage handles more than blockbusters like Face/Off, The Rock and City of Angels, movies that most people associate him with.So if you are a true Cage-fan, DO NOT MISS DEADFALL!!! Also check out "Vampire`s Kiss" and "Raising Arizona".Both AWESOME examples of the Movie Phenomenon Nicolas Cage.
