The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

Writer/director Damien Leone links three of his earlier horror shorts with a wraparound story wherein babysitter Sarah (Katie Maguire) watches a mysterious VHS tape found in a Halloween treat bag. As she watches the stories on the tape, Art, the killer clown that features in them, somehow makes his way into reality.Video short number one sees a young woman in a railway station waiting room encountering the killer clown, who drugs her and drags her to a dark tunnel where she meets a meat-cleaver wielding mutant and a Satanic sect. The second story involves creepy alien invaders who menace a wife alone in the house. The final short on the cassette features the return of Art, who terrorises a woman who is driving through the night.I watched this having just seen Terrifier (the feature length film based on All Hallows' Eve's third story) hoping for more of the same: creepy clown antics and outrageous gore. While not on the same level as Terrifier, I got what I wanted, Art (Mike Giannelli) proving just as unsettling, and the splatter nice and juicy. The film boasts solid performances from all involved, assured direction from Leone, and those all important well-executed gore effects, which include a severed arm, the very messy decapitation of a gas station attendant, the unforgettable sight of a still alive victim's naked limbless torso (with profanities carved into the skin), and a very nasty surprise for Sarah.7/10.

I've always had a weakness for anthology horror films, so this one, about a babysitter watching a mysterious VHS tape secretly given to her charges, intrigued me, but the end results are only a mixed bag. Built up from several short films made by this film's makers, this comes off as a patchwork, vaguely reminding me of the trainwreck, Night Train To Terror, only not as howlingly awful.Vignettes are about a demonic clown kidnapping women, a silly looking alien invading a woman's home, and another story of the same clown terrorising another young girl on the highway late at night, with a twist which doesn't seem plausible, so much as it seems like the filmmakers desperately just wanted a pointless surprise twist ending. The compilation film works better when it focuses on mood and atmosphere, because it is good looking and well filmed ( for the most part ) and it makes good use of colours, in a lot of scenes, but it goes way overboard trying to make the short films presented on the VHS look like old film footage, with artificial scratches, and static on the soundtrack. No VHS tape ever had things like that. Nor did a VHS tape ever have such ridiculous colour saturation, as is show here. The torture effects drown out what atmosphere is built in the other scenes. The twist ending is well done, if predictable. Overall, go into this with middle of the road expectations, it will be mildly amusing, and at only 76 minutes ( without the opening and closing credits ) it's a quick sit.

This was unusually well done. For one thing, clowns already unnerve a lot of people, and to use one as the pivot from which 2 out of 3 of the vignettes in this story revolve was a stroke of genius. The clown was gruesome and freaky, the kind that creeps out even adults, and although the stories weren't particularly imaginative, it didn't matter. That clown was the ultra-boogeyman.The film centers around a babysitter and the two kids she's staying with on Halloween night. After trick-or-treating, they empty their haul out onto the table, and amongst the treasure the boy finds that mysteriously, a VHS tape was put into his bag. Curious, the three decide to see what's on the tape. From that point the film takes off.Suspense, visceral horror, psychological fear and gross-out - all are here for horror fans to feast on. The ending wasn't a big surprise but was very well done. I went to bed after watching this film and dreamed of clowns all night. Great film.

I looked at the trailers for this movie and was a bit confused. Not sure if this film is a re-release as there are trailers for the same film dating in 2013 and now again in 2015? The trailer looked pretty good and the clown looked scary so thought we would give this movie a look. This looks like a low budget movie and it really is. Looks like some one made this on their home movie cam. The acting is really bad and the stories awful. The clown however was really scary though and he was the only good thing about the movie. Six of us watched it on a Sunday afternoon and we all thought it was bad to the point that we was waiting for the film to end. I'm one of those that keeps watching hoping something good will happen soon. Unfortunately with this movie it didn't and I was glad when it was over. You'll probably enjoy it if you like the sick type of horror films.
