A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

This is a strange movie with a super cast. No wonder it isn't famous or didn't do to well despite the talent.Mischa Barton at her prettiest, Madeleine Stowe post lip job but still lovely, Jonathan Rhys Meyers at his most way off. What more could you want? A good story. It's a strange mix of thriller horror cult with vampire like blood stuff going on.A mother and daughter are on the road but get mixed up in strange cult led by JRM. There are slow moments then some horror and action. It's all rather distasteful and meaningless and the story isn't well written. Things don't really add up to much or come together well.Only worth watching if you are want to see the main stars in an obscure movie.

The "father" really is Satan. When the mother crashes her car into the sign, it read "after a thousand years Satan will be released from his prison". They drink blood. "the father" knows your secrets. The cult members said, the "father" took their pain away, and set them free. In the end when he's blown up to pieces, he didn't die. There are so many hidden references to what is to come, or maybe he's already here. But this movie is trying to tell us. The "father" was making the mother hallucinate throughout the movie, he came to her as that man from the television and put her in a trance. He is Satan and he has the power to manipulate the weak minded. this movie was excellent if you know your history of Satan and how our world and society came to be since ancient sumeria, babylon and Egypt.

Let's be honest: We all watched OCTANE because it starred Madeline Stowe, she of BLINK and MOHICANS fame. But what a comedown this appears to have been for the once-intriguing Ms. Stowe, who here plays the troubled mom of a troubled teenage daughter who runs off with a cult. Mom of course immediately goes after daughter. Wouldn't you? Unfortunately, I did not get all the way through to the end, and will have to watch this oddly titled film again. What I saw started off with a David Lynchian, weirdo sort-of bang but quickly headed downhill as Ms. Stowe transforms from a neurotic, skinny lady with a truly disturbing hairdo to the new Lara Croft as she hunts down her crazy kid. As for Ms. Stowe's bizarre and unflattering haircut (you have to see it to believe it), I attribute to the film being shot in Dutch-land, where bizarre haircuts are pretty commonplace. I would be surprised to hear OCTANE ever made it to theaters here. Poor Ms. Stowe. Looks like she may be joining Wesley Snipes, Steven Segall and Jean-Claude Van Damme in the twilight world of STVs. How brightly shone her star at one time!

After reading some of the comments on Octane, i really was in doubt weather to watch the movie or not. But hey, it was Saturday night, nothing else to watch, so i gave it a try. I was prepared to get puzzled half through the movie, 'cause some comments explained the ending was hard to get.I did get the ending, but i don't get some of the comments. The movie doesn't explain everything into detail: it leaves a little of the plot to your own fantasy, but the story of the movie is pretty consistent.Overall the acting is doable, Madeleine Stowe is intriguing as always and the cinematographic shots and the editing give the movie a plus. True, the story does rap up a little too fast at the ending and this movie is definitely not a horror, but a thriller. For a late Saturday night a nice thriller to watch.
