A young priest from an affluent background with frustrations and doubts about about his faith requests a transfer to a failing church in one of the dreary suburbs of Gothenburg, Sweden (NOT Stockholm as the fellow from Stockholm that wrote another review on here stated). While going door to door in his new, disinterested parish he comes across a young lady in a wheelchair. The two share an attraction, but he has trepidations about dating someone on welfare and in a wheelchair. This is an interesting dramedy with some fine performances. It dares to tackle some subjects that are largely taboo in most cinema. The characters and most of the dialog rings true. On the whole, an interesting Swedish film.

Swedish film where a young man turns priest, falls in love with a girl in a wheelchair and begins to doubt his faith. A stereotypical case of "opposites attract", the priest is a coward from a rich background, and the girl quite tough, living with her alcoholic mom in some skid row, this film falls on hard times where most films fail in trying to work against stereotypes. The only kicker being the funny banter between the main characters. The tedious story-line and rough total feel of the film bored me. If only the director had injected more into the characters, especially the ones that simply wait in the side-lines, I'm sure this film would have moved somewhere else, but as is, it's simply stale bread with only a couple of good, surprising ingredients thrown in.

I enjoyed this movie. The opening minutes were especially good, I thought, and they really grabbed my interest with their humour and unexpectedness (although I had no idea what the movie was about before I saw it anyway). I don't know that I felt much empathy with any of the characters, but they were interesting, the story was watchable if not overly gripping and the funny parts were genuinely funny. I don't know that the deadbeat boyfriend of Carola was very believable, but there was drama, romance, sex, comedy, misunderstanding, loss and love. What more could you want from a bit of light entertainment? It wasn't brilliant, but it was good fun. Why was it called 'Miffo' though?

If your into current swedish movies, this one holds the standard. A somewhat unusual storyline with surprises at regular intervals keeps it going. Scenery seen in the movie is very true to current Stockholm and it's suburbs. Casting is quite ok too.
