I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

The only reason I rated this movie got the points from me it did is because both Laura and Misha are fantastic actors.I clicked the movie title not knowing much about the actual story except that they were known as Ken and Barbie. I clicked the movie because it had Misha Collins (I hadn't heard his warning about not watching the movie) and I thought that the piece based on who was being cast would have a different feel to it. The whole movie is extremely uncomfortable and it's even worse when you hear some accounts of how much of a creep the director was. The rape scenes were cringy enough as is without a crude director. The thing is the movie is done really well it's just doing a really terrible thing.

Before even thinking about viewing Karla please view this link: strangepicturesofmishacollins.tumblr.com/post/50784751422/karla-faq It lists every problematic detail about Karla and also many disturbing facts about what happened behind the scenes and on set. It's also really important to know that the majority of the cast and crew deeply regret being a part of this project. Many of them (especially Misha Collins and Laura Prepon) have been quoted saying that shooting the movie made them physically sick, caused nightmares, and in several cases caused them to hysterically cry at home and on set. Almost every single sane person involved advises all their fans and any other potential viewer to not watch this movie. It grossly exploits a real life tragedy in a very sadistic way. It's very twisted and messed up even if the gore/nudity is not that explicit. Please respect the actors, crew members, and especially the families/friends of the victims by never watching it. (Also, as a fan of Misha's I also want to note that he was unaware that the script was a true story until after he signed the contract.) I can't even rate this movie because it is one of the most vile and disrespectful films ever produced.

Not everyone's cup of tea; and not for the squeamish. Director Joel Bender presents a stark story based on actual events. Karla Homolka(Laura Prepon)falls quickly in love with Paul Bernardo(Misha Collins)knowing nothing about his previous life and being a suspect in a string murders. This story is based on Karla's point of view and its not pretty. Paul is infatuated with Karla's younger sister(Cherilyn Hayres); constantly filming her and actually filming her death. Karla wanting only to please Paul, joins in his desires of kidnapping, psychologically and sexually abusing young women before killing them. By the end of this brutal drama you must explore whether Karla is a willing accomplice to these heinous crimes or is she just a victim of Paul's influence. Prepon, better known for her TV work...especially That 70's Show, is so believable in this role. And Collins is so easy to dislike. Others in the cast:Patrick Bauchau, Emile Jacobs, Tanya Lemelle, Shawn Hoffman, Tess Harper and Sarah Foret. KARLA deserves its R rating.

This movie seemed to try to make the view feel compassion for sorrow for Karla but she showed none to her victims. She and her husband should have been given the death penalty. I don't understand how she could be out of prison and I don't understand how a movie could be made to show any compassion for her. She deserves none! This is another case of a film trying to gain sympathy for the killer and none for the victims or the victim's families. Prepon did an awesome job portraying Karla Holumka. I was ready to feel sorry for her until I read more about her true character. The movie should have shown more of her real self instead of the innocent victim portrayed in the movie Karla. This was a frightening movie because of the truth of it and because of the truth left out of it.
